Peter Hvidsten 985-3089 Reach council sets own pay Reach Township council met March 2, and decided to pay itself $15 each for every council or committee meet- ing each councillor attends in the line of duty. In addition the Reeve will get $1,300 a year, the deputy reeve $1,000, and each councillor $800. a year. Council also decided to pay expenses of about $95. for the roads superintendent's par- ticipation in the good roads convention in Toronto a week ago, plus $65. for the superintendent to attend a course for non professional roads personel at Guelph. The course will take three days. Roads Superintendent R.C. MacDonald was also authorized to attend a one day course on weed spray- ing, so he can qualify for a license to spray weeds in the township. ~ Obituary Mrs. Joseph Forder The death of Mrs. Joseph Forder in her one hundredth year, occurred at Hillcrest Nursing Home, Port Perry, on Thursday, February 22. Daughter of the late Hénry and Elizabeth Pollon, the former Elizabeth Jane Pol- lon was born in Cartwright Township, March 23, 1873. On January 18, 1893, she was united in marriage to Samuel McLaughlin. Fol- lowing her marriage, she and her husband lived on the McLaughlin homestead, now a century farm, until they retired in Nestleton in 1930. Mr. McLaughlin died very suddenly from a heart attack on September 9, 1933. After a number of years she married Mr. Joseph Forder, who is predeceased. Mrs. Forder lived in Cartwright all of her active years. She had an outgoing personality and was known to many as "Aunt Lil." Her home was her chief interest and family, friends and neighbours received a wel- come. A faithful member of the Anglican/Church, Black- stock, she was a Life member of the Anglican * Churchwomen. Always act- ive in community affairs she was a valued member of Nestleton Women's Institute .and a Life member of the organization. Skilled in needlecraft- Mrs. Forder assisted in making many beautiful quilts and, during the war years, her efforts were untiring. Left to mourn her pasing is one daughter Alma (Mrs, Roy Taylor) one son Harry McLaughlin, four grand- childen and six great grandchildrel One sister, Ella (Mrs. Robertson) Unity, Saskaté¢hewan. She is predeceased by two sisters and five brothers - Annie (Mrs. John Watson), Flo- rence (Mrs. Willard Eaton); Elisha Albert, John, Louis and Edward. On Saturday, February 24, Reverend R.C. Rose con- ducted the funeral service in McDermott Panabaker Funeral Chapel, Port Perry. Interment was in St. John's Anglican Cemetery, Cart- wright. Pallbearers were Roy McLaughlin, Harold Me- Laughlin, Arthur Hyland and George Wolfe. L\ © LY
