Lambeth opened the scor- ing in the first period with Shore scoring while Port was a man short. Then Port came back with two goals while they were a man short. Bill Jeffrey scored from Cal Cochrane then Cochrane hit from Jeffrey. Port hit early in the second with Cochrane scoring and Rick Prosser assisting. Lambeth battled back with three straight goals, two by Shore and one by Peterson. This put Lambeth ahead 4 - 3 but before the end of the second Cal Cochrane hit for his third of the night with the assist going to Prosser. Port jumped into the lead in the third on goals by Cochrane assisted by Jeffrey and Gary LeFort from Rick rosser and Larry Jackson. Lambeth again battled back with three goals to take the lead 7 - 6 midway through the period. The goals came from Peterson, Lucas and Par- sons. The Gulf boys didn't give and with some great efforts Bill Jeffrey tied the game with assists going to Cal Cochrane and Rick Campbell. It looked like overtime was going to be necessary when with only 1:40 to>go in the game Cal Cochrane scored his fifth goal of the night with assists going to Dave Jackson and Bill Jeffrey. Port took 8 of the 13 penalties and most of the penalties proved costly as Lambeth scored four of their goals enjoying a man advantage. SECOND GAME On Sunday, April 8th Lambeth travelled to Port for the second game of the best of seven series and when the game ended the CLUB ANNRENE DANCE SATURDAY, APRIL 14th Music by FAIR FIELD FIVE series was tied at one game a piece as Lambeth won 8 - 4 over the Grieves Gulf Juveniles. Port hit early in the first period on goals by Jeffrey from Cochrane and Dave Jackson from Phinney and Shill. Lambeth battled back and at the end of the first it was 2 - 2. Lambeth got goals from Parsons and Peterson to tie the score. Lambeth hit early in the second on goals by Vadeau Plaume and Vadeau. Port battled back with goals by Cochrane assisted by McNab and Bronson assisted by LeFort to make the score 5 - 4 for Lambeth. Port missed some fine scoring chances in the third period but couldn't manage a goal. Lambeth scored three more to round out the scoring 8 - 5 for Lambeth. Port led the penalty parade in this game also and once again it cost dearly as Lambeth scored 4 goals while Port was short handed. The penalties were 11 for Port and 8 for Lambeth. The third game of the series is at Lambeth this Friday, April 13th at 9:00 . The boys would appreciate all the fan suppgrt possible for this game. Lambeth is only 2'» hours by car along the 401 to the Lambeth cut-off on No. 7 highway and North 4 miles to Lambeth. Softball association meets at Windsor The 51st Annual Conven- tion of the Ontario Ama- teur Softball Assoc. was held in Windsor the past week-end. Port Perry was represented by delegates Donn and Norma Gray and, Vin and Jean Walker. Amendments were pass- ed to change the Squirt series into two sections, an "A" and "B" section. The Port Perry Assoc. presented an ammendment to add a "C" series in Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget. Donn Gray presented this ammendment and it was carried. The Umpires' fees were also raised. It was also passed for Senior "A" and Senior "B" teams to sign 17 players. Larry Webb scored the first goal for Emiels and the next two were scored by Todd Blayone. Bob Horton scored for UAW. Novice LSL took the champion- ship from the Lions 4 - 0. Asman, Alexander, McDon- ald and Sutherland scored for Lake Scugog Lumber. PeeWee In the first of two games on Saturday, Flamingo downed Bolton 4 - 2. George Hamilton scored three and Carry Tellows netted one for Flamingo. Kane and Carr- iere scored for Bolton. Pee Wee In the second game Bolton slipped by Flamingo 5 - 4 to take the Championship Car- riere scored four for Bolton and then Kane got the winner in overtime. Hamilton - scored two for Flamingo with H. Hamilton and Freeman scoring the others. Bantam The Legion won the Bantam championship by defeating Haines Esso 3 - 1. A letter from the O.M.B. explained that a proposal for a sub division in Greenbank was being rejected because it is provincial government policy that no developments be approved until after the townships official plan is approved. The government recently sent the official plan back to be rewritten after rules were changed to permit planning on a five year basis only. v Reach's plan had projected ¢ 20 years.
