They moved to Lindsay on Saturday. On Sunday afternoon, Miss Sharon Sweetman accom- panied friend William to the Neil Wanamakers for what she was led to believe would be a quiet afternoon of T.V. Instead she found the yard full of cars and the house full of women waiting to shower her with gifts. Guests were chiefly relatives of the bride-and-groom-to-be plus a few old friends. The gifts were lovely and all had a pleasant afternoon. This affiar was arranged by Mrs. Neil Wanamaker, Mrs. Glenn Wanamaker, Mrs. W. Gibson and Miss Nancy Wanamaker. Quite a showery spring for the grocer's family! On Thursday, Mrs. B. Wana- maker attended a shower for Mrs. Beth Bryden at the home of Mrs. Moore in Blackstock. On Saturday, the same lady with Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Neil A. tended a shower for Sharon Sweetman given by Mrs. Metcalfe of Port Perry. We had a wedding too this week. On Friday, Rev. Critch oficiated at a candle- light service in the church when Mr. Geo. Giles and Miss Nancy Teskey were united in marriage. Fhere were some 40 guests present and the reception was held at 10:Nonquon Drive, Mariposa Estates. Our hospital informant says that Mr. Don Beacock got back home on Monday. Mr. Davis has suffered a set-back but expects to be released by the end of the week. Mrs. White's condition remains much the same. We hear that Reach township council were look- ing around our village on Thursday so we are wonder- ing what goodies they are planning for us. The rural urban pupil exchange is in operation again so Mark Tilly of Waverly Public School in Oshawa is now guest of Brian Barr. Mr. and Mrs. Don Hunter had a visit and supper with Mr and Mrs. Russ Heron of Sunderland on Saturday. Mrs. Elsie Brown of Toronto paid her annual or perhaps its her semi-annual visit to the B. Wanamakers. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Sturman entertained' Eleanor's par- eats, Mr. and Mrs. Rowan of Bethany on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Bruce were in Lucknow on Saturday attending the fune- ral of the late Mr. McKinnon father of Don Mackinnon. The village had rented one previously. A recommendation from the sanitary land fill com- mittee that a $28,000 bull- dozer, Port Perry will pay 2 fifths of the cost, Reach will pay 2 fifths and Scugog will pay 1 fifth. Deputy reeve Phil Orde reported that vandals have been turning on fire hydrants illegally. '"'Some night the tank is going to be emptied and we will get a fire in the morning and no water," he said. It was decided to recom- mend no change in water allocations in the village. Reeve Kenny declared a conflict of interest because he holds mortgages on property which has been allocated water.
