. fell behind 4 - Bantams All-Ontario Champs The Port Perry Beare Motors bantams captured the O.M.H.A. Bantam *"C" championship on Tuesday, April 10 in Dresden by winning the best of five series, three games to one. The third game was 'won by Dresden in Port by a score of 4-3 The. Port team started very slowly in this game and 1 before they started playing the hockey they are capable of. The Dresden goalie played sup- urbly stopped Port on a number of excellent chances. Goal scorers for Port in their game were Dave Horton, John Scott and Mark Jobb. The championship was won in Dresden by a score of 7-1. Mark Jobb led Port scorers with three goals, singles went to Sean Taylor, Dave Horton, Phil Cochrane and Larry Page. The Big Red Machine from Port won nine: of ten playoff games while they outscored the opposition 89 to 13. The teams Port defeated on route to the championship were West Rouge, Fort Henry, Sundridge and Dres- den. Mrs. Pugh outlined how we should write our club story and then along with Mrs. Solomon looked at our garmets. Then each member chose a casserole or dessert to prepare and bring to our fashin show and dinner. Each member will model her dress and her record book will be on display. Mrs. Pugh told us our record books are due on Thursday, the 19th of April. The home assignment was given and the meeting closed with the 4-H pledge. Meeting No. 7 Meeting No. 7 was held on April 7 at Mrs. Pugh's home. The Lord's Prayer opened the meeting and the Roll Call was "why I chose the colour of my dress." The minutes of the last meeting were read and adopted. Our club decided that one certificate with seals would be good for completion of units. Our next unit in the fall will be "Dressing Up Vegtables'. The home assisgnment from the last. meeting was taken up. Mrs. Pugh explained how to do a proper slipstich for hemming. Mrs. Soloman demonstra- - ted how to do it and each member then tried it on a sample of her material. The home assignment was given and the meeting closed with the 4-H pledge. The first and second periods of the game showed the score even at two goals a piece. Dale Bronson opened the scoring for Port assisted by Rick Campbell. Peterson tied the score just before the end of the first period. Lambeth went ahead early in the second on a goal by Shore but Port battled back with Dave Jackson scoring assisted by linemates Gary Shill and Don Phinney. The third period was all Lambeth as they scored three connective goals. It was Peterson, Shore and Varey making the final score 5 - 2 for Lambeth. The penalties were close in this game with Port taking seven and Lambeth 11. Lambeth led the series 2 games to 1 and set the stage for the fourth game in Port on Sunday, april 15th. PORT PERRY STAR - Wednesday, April 18th, 1973 - 19 Juveniles tie final series scored. Rick Campbell scored his first of the night assisted by Dale Bronson to tie the score at the end of the first period. The second period saw some excellent hockey and both goal tenders making some beautiful saves. While Lambeth had a man advant- age Dale Bronson passed to Rick Campbell who rushed the length of the ice and beat the Lambeth goalie. This goal seemed to fire up the Grieve's Gulf Juveniles as they come out flying in the third period. Rick Campbell scored his third of the night on a perfect pass from Gary LeFort. Campbell was 20 feet out from the net and as the puck hit his stick he fired and caught the Lambeth goalie napping. Varey scored again for Lambeth to make the score 3 - 2 for Port but Campbell wasn't finished his scoring yet.
