The postponed races were held on Tuesday and the closing exercises on Friday evening. There was a display of craft work and an informal sing-song. The highlights include an Old Tyme Fiddler's Con- test and Old Tyme Dancing. The fiddlers contest, star- ting at 7:15 p.m. is an open event and any old time fiddler may enter. Each contestant will be asked to play a waltz, a jig and a hoedown. Prizes of $100,$50 and $25 will be awarded to the top three winners. The contest has always been an interesting event and a climax to the Satur- day night entertainment at the fair. This promises to be the case again this year with fiddlers coming from far and near to prove their ability to play old time tunes. Starting at 9 p.m, fol- lowing the fiddlers contest, an evening of fun is in store for all who enjoy old tyme dancing. Included will be a variety of old tyme couple dances, including the Schottische, Rye Waltz and Gay Gordons as well as Modern Round Dancing, spiced with some Old Square Dancing and Country music. This event is free to all paying ad- mission to the fair Saturday evening. Due to a conflict with another meet the entire program of harness racing will commence at 1 p.m. on Saturday, rather than Thursday and Saturday. There will be 10 heats with purses totalling $2,000. Wagering privileges will be available. An added attraction for the Sunday afternoon pro- gram will be country and western music supplied by "Senator" Jim Coyle and the Cable TV Boys of Bow- manville. The South Ontario Agri- cultural Society has entered the name of Rhonda Hastie 18, of 290 Marland Avenue, Oshawa, the winner of the Miss Oshawa Fair Contest last year, in the Sweetheart of the Fairs Contest to be held Aug. 15 at the C.N.E.
