Juvenile "B" championship. Last Satur- day in Ingersol with a 12 - 4 win. The Legion Girls had finished in the finals for the, last two seasons .agd cer- tainly were descr of their first Ontario Chump- ionship. Linda Heayn and Wendy Partner have devoted a great deal of time to these girls and their hard work has paid off. Well done girls. The Legion Squirts defeat- ed Oak Ridges 9 - 3 on Thursday night in the York - Simcoe League Playoffs. The winner of this series will meet Richmond Hill in the League finals, MacMillan the coach of Vancamp Juniors had the: misfortune to break an ankle on Sunday while play- ing in the Shop League in Oshawa. All the executive and players wish Mac a speedy recovery. Local softball results Last week's Softball Results Greenbank wins Squirt House League. Clark Men- zies pitched the win for Greenbank. After the game the Greenbank and Port Perry Club were treated to tarts and pop from Flamin- go Pastries and Uxbridge Coke. Lions Club eliminated by Odessa The Port Perry Lions Club Bantams lost 8 - 7 in Odessa on Saturday afternoon to be eliminated in the OASA Bantam *'C"' Playdowns. The local boys put up a real battle going into the ninth inning with a one run lead only to have the Odessa boys come up with two runs in the ninth to claim the "series 2 games to 0. The Lions Club boys en- Although" volunteers are still needed to help operate Port Perry's expanding minor hockey activities the game has picked up enough addtional helpers to ensure that leagues will be able to 'operate this year, according to Minor Hockey Association President Charles Bourgeois. A few weeks ago the league placed a notice in the STAR stating that unless more adults became in- volved activities may have had to be curtailed in some areas. The league has run two paid ads which invited parents and other interested adults to clip out the ad, mark the job they would be willing to help with,y and return it to the association. The volunteer jobs avail- able included everything from coaching or managing a team to selling tickets or driving youngsters to games. Mr. Bourgeois says re- sponse to the ads has been, "not bad", although more volunteers are still needed. Bowling news LADIES MONDAY NIGHT BOWLING High Single: ..G.
