Here is the report for the past week. Officers on traffic patrol investigated a total of 38 motor vehicle collisions dur- ing the past week. There were 38 people injured and the 61 vehicles involved sus- tained damage amounting to $72,730. The unusually high figure is a result of damage sustained in two collisions involving tractor trailer ve- hicles. There have been ap- proximately 50 more col- lisions this year than in 1972 and 24 persons have been killed so far this year com- pared to 22 killed for the same period in 1972. Officers on traffic patrol laid a total of 241 charges last week under the Highway Traffic Act. Three break-ins were re- ported this week, and 5 occurrences of theft. There were 3 disturbances, 1 im- paired driver and 7 occur- rences involving liquor which resulted in 10 charges being laid under the Liquor Control Act, 3 malicious damage complaints and 3 traffic complaints. 1 charge was laid under the Criminal Code. SWAMPED SANTA you can bearly see Santa Claus behind the gang of youngsters who took part in the Port Perry snowmobile club Christmas party in Scout Hall last week. Prince Albert news ..At Christmas may your home be warm with friend- ship, bright with laughter and rich with God's bles- sings. At church on Sunday a large number of folk attend- ed and were welcomed by Mr. L. Pereman. The sanc- tuary was alive with the a WHEW. Santa takes a break from his busy schedule in Port Perry last Saturday. He visited the Scout Hall by snowmobile for a party of the snowmobile club at 2:30 and then rushed over to the Prince Albert Hall for a Kinsmen Party at 3:00 p.m. "It is pretty tiring for an old man,' Santa told the Star, "'But | love it." Ba ESE AT BE customary arrangements of poinsettias, candle and gre- enery which were proud fittings for the season. As usual Rev. Robt. Brawn delivered an appropriate message. The fourteen mix- ed voice choir in their black gowns touched off by each wearing scarlet red collar and corsage, rendered "Star of the Angels', with Mr. C. Willis singing the solo part. We were also favoured with a delightful quartette comprising of Mr. F. Harris, Mrs. L. Pereman, Mr. B. Snelgrove, and Mr. C. Willis accompanied by the organist Mrs. B. Snelgrove. Offering was gathered by Mr. T. Hodgins and Mr. D. Long. In the evening, grand- parents, parents and inter- ested folk attended the an- nual S.S. School concert. The S.S. Supt., Mr. Paul " Pearsell acted as chairman for the program of recita- tions, dialogues, singing etc. all blended into the usual comical recipe for a concert of all ages. Two brothers, Kevin and Robin Long gathered the offering which was dedicat- ed by our minister Rev. Brawn. As a climax to any festive evening the high- spirited children welcomed the well preserved, never- aging, Santa Claus adorned in the usual red garb. Monday night the "Friend- ly Visitors" of our area joined with similar groups of Ontario county when the "White Cross" royally enter- tained all to a Christmas party held in Simcoe St. United Church, Oshawa. Congratulations are in order to one of our village girls, Miss Mary Clugston who received word from Edmonton that her piece of poetry had won honourable mention in the open class of "Canadian Authors Associa- tion." Mary's poem is one of over a hundred to be com- piled in a book form. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gib- son were guests at Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Kerry's twenty-fifth wedding anni- versary party held in Utica Hall. Mr. and Mrs. L. Beacock were among the many who called on Mr. and Mrs. R. Rodd, Uxbridge, upon the occasion of their golden wed- ding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Pearsall, Sunderland, spent Sunday with their son and wife Mr. and Mrs. P. Pearsall and attended the Christmas con- cert. We are pleased to note baby boy Whitaker is impro- ving nicely following sur- gery, Oshawa hospital.
