The "Cards and Kids" Club met in the home of Mrs. Jim Hutchison this week in Caesarea. The winners of prizes were, Ist, Sandy Day. 2nd, Sue Fowler and the "Booby went to Maxine McMillen. Sandy also won the prize for the most loan hands of the month. . A delicious home made stew was prepared and ser- ved by our congenial hos- tess, Colleen. Dessert and coffee completed the meal. Perhaps you are wondering why we bother preparing such meals each Tuesday morning. I have been asked by several people something to that affect. It is simply that many mothers do not take the much needed time to eat a proper lunch. They pre- pare "something for the kids" forgetting that' they too need a nutritional lunch. So at least one day each week if you are a member of this club, you not only escape the dull routine of everyday housework. You enjoy a visit with friends, play a few games of cards and catch up on the local happenings while your little ones play with their friends. You may gain a few un- wanted ounces of weight but it is fun. On Saturday evening Mr. Bill Bolan of Nestleton, Mr. Harold Rutherford of Caesa- rea and Mr. Ernie Coulter of View Lake, each ac- companied by their wives, attended the Roadway Transport Safety Award dinner and dance given in their honour. The event was held in the Guild Room of the Holiday Inn in Oshawa. It is reward- ing to watch these presenta- tions. As each man receives his coveted badge, his fellow workers give him a standing ovation that 1 assure you is well deserved. Each wife proudly shares this evening with her hus- band. ' Markel Ins. Co. Roadway Transport and the Dept. Of Highways officials organize this event to show apprecia- tion to these men that have to their credit hundreds of thousands of miles of acci- "dent free driving. In this day this is no menial chore with the ace drivers in at- tendance. David Philps the son of Mrs. George Heaslip of Nestleton was also among them. On behalf of the wives of each of our top drivers in this country I say congra- tulations fellows, take care of yourselves and may God be your co-driver on every trip you make. Just a thought . . . Call a friend to-day just to say hello. It really im- proves your day.
