May 12th, at the Port Perry Scout Hall. The South Ontario League schedule is due to begin the week of May 20th and the first Home game for the local club should be May 21st at 8:30 p.m. This date has not yet been confirmed as the schedules have not arrived but watch for posters in the local stores for the opening game of the season. The management and coaching staff are still busy holding the final practises and setting the opening line- up. AS The opening line-up will have Neil McLaughlin behind the plate, with Laurie Williams doing the pitching; Doug Christie will be at first base with Rick Campbell at second and Ken Davidson at third. The shortstop position is undecided with Rob Monroe and Bent Heard both battling for the position and both Condemns hockey violence Scugog councillors voiced their concern Monday night about the growing violence in junior and amateur hockey. The discussion followed a letter from the Regional Municipality of Peel and Brampton Council reques- ting endorsement by Scugog Council for a resolution pro- testing the "apparent lack of control and physical violence' allowed at the O.H.A. Junior B Final first game between the Bramalea Blues and the Hamilton Red Wings." Council felt that violence needs to be curbed if hockey is to remain a sport. The resolution was endorsed. Rev. Milton Sanderson who is quite well-known here as well as in the Blackstock area, is about to complete 50 years in the church's minis- try and also 50 years of married life. With this in mine, 5 churches in the Toronto Presbytery in which r. Sanderson had served arranged a very special ser- vice on May 5th. This was followed by a huge social gathering at which the Sandersons were pre- sented a new car, 2 expense paid (rips and numerous smaller gifts. . On Thursday, May 9th, Region 1, U.C.W. of Lindsay Presbytery met in our church for their rally. There were aboul 90 women pre- sent from the 8 churches in the south west corner of the presbytery.
