Second . ..Carol Boxall and Barb Brown received the booby prize. Lunch was delicious as usual. Welcome guests of Mayor and Mrs. L. Malcolm for a few weeks are their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Bilton of Baie Verte, Newfoundland. They course brought their baby son, Danny along. How quickly the days pass when loved ones visit. Mrs. Mabel Cawker, P.R.O. for Central Ontario W.1. and Mrs. Marion Heas- lip, Vice-President of the Nestleton W.I. attended the Officer's conference in Waterloo from April the 30th through May 2nd. House guests of the John Doyle's of Nestleton for a few days are Mr. and Mrs. Orval Tripp of Colborne. of Mrs. Tripp is John's mother. She and her husband have recently purchased a {railer home on Highway No/35 and shall be taking up perman- ent residence there shortly. It shall be pleasant having the Tripps as neighbours once again. A welcome home from a winter vacation in Florida is conveyed to Mr. and Mrs. G. Donneral of Nestleton. This greeting is also extended to Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Malcolm. : On behalf of the entire community I offer the warm- est of congratulations to the amicable Mr. Rick Glass, student Minister of the Nes- tleton and Sonya Presbyte- tian churches. Mr. Glass has recently graduated from Knox College with his Master Divinity degree. I may at this time add that this degree was hard earned and so well warranted by this young man. At the most impressive ceremony held in Convocation Hall at the University of Toronto on April the 30th, Mrs. Rick Glass was an extremely proud guest. Mrs. Anne Glass, of Rockford, Illinois and an aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bourn of Toledo, Ohio were equally as proud. Mr. Glass shall be ordained in St. Andrew's Presbyterian church, Sonya, on Tuesay, May 16th at 7:30 in the evening. Mrs. C. Earnshaw of Cae- sarea was hostess to the Nestleton WI. for their May meeting. The president Mrs. Ben DeJong welcome all. A poem entitled "Nothing Quite so Lovely" was then read by Mrs. DeJong who then opened the meeting in the customary manner. In the absence of the Secretary, Mrs. J. Wygerde, Mrs. R. Davison acted on her behalf, reading the minutes etc. Plans were finalized for the District Annual held in Solina on May the 8th. It was decided that the Nestleton W.I1. pay for the tuning of the piano for the Nestleton Com- munity Centre, Nestleton. It was decided that a commit- tee of three ladies each month shall provide lunch at meetings. Group leaders are as follows, Mrs. G. Bowers, Mrs. Allan Beacock, Miss Ruth Proutt and Mrs. Charles Earnshaw. A thank you was conveyed to Mrs. Grant Thompson, who though unable to attend the meeting kindly sent the name tags made by her. A congratulatory message was conveyed to the 4-H club girls who recedntly won County and Provincial honours on 'Achievement Day." "A complete report was submitted by Mrs. M. Fisher regarding the Hospital Auxi- lliary meeting April the 8th. The Spring Fair is tp be on May the 25th. Tickets on the braided rug are available. Anyone willing to knit or perhaps make gifts of any type for the hospital tuck shop will be appreciated greatly. A motion to donate $20.00 to the hospital was seconded and passed. The roll call was well responded too. A former member of the Nestleton branch, Mrs. A. Beacock of Lindsay, capably auctioned off the plants that are sold at the May meeting each year. A "Happy Birth- day wish was extended to Mrs. Allan Beacock who observed her birthday on that particular day. A delectable luncheon was served and Mrs. Fisher expressed her thanks to all that assisted in making the season's first meeting suc- cessful. The next meeting shall be held on May the 18th PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, May 15th, 1974 -- 21 for the Hospital Auxilhary (I apologize for neglecting to mention this earlier) The Nestleton omen's Institute was represented at the District Annual in Solina on Wednesday, May the 8th by the following ladies, Mrs. Gwen Malcolm, Mrs. Winnie Davison, Mrs. Hennie De- Jong, Mrs. Marion Heaslip and Mrs. Allan Beacock. A sincere wish for lasting happiness is conveyed to Mr. and Mrs. B. Fish (nee Elaine Metcalfe) The ceremony was performed in St. Paul's Church in Bowmanville on Friday evening at 5:30. The reception followed at the Flying Dutchman Inn. Mrs. Florence Thompson of Toronto, is at present visiting with her sister Mrs. L.. Cooledge in Nestleton. On Thursday the ladies were dinner guests of Mrs. Spruitt in Oakwood. A wish for a rapid recov- ery is extended to Mr. Bruce Heaslip of Nestleton. Mr. Heaslip has been ill for the past two weeks. Our deepest sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. G. Donneral of Nestleton. Mrs. Donneral's sister, Mrs. E. Seagrove of Woodstock passed away on Friday. The funeral is to be held to-day. Book on birds in this area Scugog residents will shortly be able to read about the birds in this region when a new book "Birds of the Oshawa-l.ake Scugog Reg- 1on. Ontario' is published in September The authors of the book are Ronald G. Tozer and James M. Richards. The Lake Scugog Histori- cal Society has made arran- gements to make available the book at the Museum. The Society has also made arrangements to supply ad- vance copies of the book. The price of the book when it finally comes to the Museum is likely to be $10. Advance copies can be made available for $7.50. Interes- ted persons can fill out an order coupon elsewhere in this paper and mail it to the Society. The book will have 360 pages. each page measuring 9" x 67. All copies will be hardcover. There will be approximately 60 black and white photographs of habitat tvpes and some common birds. The habitat photo- graphs are an impor- tant feature "of the book, designed to illustrate the Region's diversity and asso- ciated birds. There will also be about 20 half tone Bird drawings by Toronto artist Barry Kent Mackay. The main body of the text consists of indiv- idual species' accounts. The edition is limited and only 1,500 copies are expec- ted to be published.
