Geer voiced opening remarks and read scripture. Sister Edna Bec- kett ably presided at the organ. We all appreciated. the voices of junior Scugog choir. Rev. V. The June Meeting of Unit 1. U.C.W. was made wel- come to the new town home of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Hunter. President Mrs. Roy Service. "Dorothy" Hope opened the meeting reading a piece of poetry entitled "Mother's Love' then all sang a hymn. Secretary Mrs. B. Snelgrove read minutes and submitted the financial standing as' the treasurer was absent. Mrs. M. Pugh voiced a successful report concerning Hospital Auxiliary Spring Fair. Ividently two new articles of equipment have been pur- chased such as an electric cardiograph and a fry. Tentative plans were re- viewed pertaining to the Strawberry Supper and a few last minute details re- garding Den Boer wedding receplion to be served in the Latcham Centre. Also a brief discussion as to the large Popowich wedding reception being catered by our group in Blackstock newly renova- ted R. Centre to take place early date of July. We will then be free till September. The president exhibited the annual trophy we spon- sor based on greatest gene- ral proficiancy of the stu- dent. At this time our president presented one of departing members Mrs. Roy Mildred Hope with a personal gift for which Mil- dred voiced thank you grate- fully. A sumptuous lunch was served by Mrs. R. Robinson and Mrs. Dorothy Hope. Our village R. Centre again became useful when another social event was held. This party was partially farewell, combined with a presentation for Mr. and Mrs. J. Craighead upon are residing in Oshawa. When majority of folks had arrived Mrs. John Hunter capably supervised a round ol the familiar "Newlywed Game." couples involved Frank - Edith Gibson, Chas. & Beth Willes, Jack and Esther Craighead. Naturally the bride-groom were the winners. After which Mrs. C. 'Willes read an address after which Mrs. Pugh and Lori Hope presented a lovely silver coffee urn and a punch bowl] set. Then Peggy Webb handed voung Melodie with a parcel which turned out to be a loc- ket. Harper to Lindsay Mon- day evening when they atten- ded a large neighbourhood shower of a, Miss Donna Plaunt, a bride-to-be of this month. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Love enjoyed attending the large- ly attended banquet held in Port Perry High School Auditorium and Cafeteria. this special event was in honour of Mrs. Grace Love who a few days previous was elected president of Rebekah Assembly of Ontario.
