There are only eight and a . half more to go. School started with a bang. I've never seen so many de- pressed faces in one building before. But after we elec- ted our Students' Council and heard some of the activities that they had planned for us, everyone began to smile. 'On Friday, Sept. 20, Tab- loid was held. Students were required to use their hearts, heads, feet and brains to perform such exciting acts s blowing a ping pong 'towards another student and skipping rope. Anyway it appeared that the Tigers had more on the ball than anyone else that day and they pulled - off a victory. Ali Cats came next and finally the Oakpiks. The Grade 9's (most of whom were good sports and dressed up) par- aded around for us and finally Terry Black and Lois VanCamp were declard win- ners. A careful check was made at the door and we are happy to report a profit of $116.20. We thank our chap- erones without them dances would be impossible. So come on parents - support the school and offer to be chaperones at the dances. We need you. The next week was livened "up by a car rally. Many of the students had never been on a rally before and most succeeded in getting lost. We may not have found many checkpoints but we sure saw some beautiful countryside - (and some awful roads). We all had a good time and now that we are experienced we hope to test our skills again. Paul Kristensen, Shawn Severn, Peter Kristen- sen, Bryan Sleep and Colin Asselstine were first. Gord Malcolm, Terri Robinson, Janis McLaughlin, Lenny Horton and Marvin McMa- hon came second and Mi- chael VanGestel, Katie Schmidt, Dale Knapp, Clint Sleep, Ray Porrill, Ed Wy- gerde and Peter Duvestynn were third.
