Scoring for Port Perry was Paul Storry with an assist going to Bob Horton. On Friday, December 13, Malmont Farms hosted the Cedar Hill Atom Team from Scarborough. Don Mark's Cedar Hill team had a hard fight in order to get a 3 to 3 tie with the local team. Port played an excellent game and had a superb goaltend- ing effort from Clay Lover- ing who stopped the oppon- ents cold on several clear "shots from close in. Scoring Newcastle too strong for the Malmont team were Mark Goreski, Paul Storry and Allan Jones with assists going to Paul Storry, Bob Horton and Phil Bower. The first meeting with Uxbridge took place on Sun- day, December 15 and the Malmont Farms team came out on the short end of a five to one count. Scoring for the home team was Bob Horton unassisted. The play was very close but a couple of defensive lapses cost Port the game. Next game for the Mal- mont. Farms team is in Uxbridge on December 20 at 8:30 and the next Home game is against Uxbridge on Friday, December 27 at 8:00 Peter Lane top scorer The Port Perry Midget Boys Basketball team lost two out of its last three games. Port lost 48-36 in a closely contested game against G. L. 'Roberts of Oshawa. Port ran i into foul trouble late in the 'third quarter and were ! unable to stay with a tall and strong Roberts team. Colin Wackett was high scorer with 17 points and played an excellent defensive game. Peter Lane scored 10 points for Port. When Brock High School played Port Perry, the local boys came out on top 59 to 38. It was a close game in the first half but Port pulled away in the second half. Peter Lane was top rebound- er and scorer with 24 points while Colin Wackett had 12 points. . In the closest game of the three, Port lost 53-50 to Henry Street School from Whitby. Port fell behind 31 to 6 early in the game due to a total defensive collapse. Its never a dull game when the Toyota Wheels play and Monday's game against- Whitby was no exception. Whitby took the lead early and John Scott tied it up on a fine series of passes from Dave Horton and Steve Jones and then Port Perry went ahead on a: goal by Jones this time with Horton and Scott getting the assists. Whitby came back and scored twice near the end of the period. In the second period, Whit- by went ahead 4-2 and things didn't look good for the Wheels. It was Dave Horton who got the Wheels rolling with two quick goals followed by Cochrane with two more and Gord Scott with a single and by the third period the score was a comfortable 7-4 in favour of Port Perry. As usual with the Toyota boys, the third period was the one with all the excite- ment. Whitby scored three times and what had looked like a win in the second period was beginning to look doubtful. John Scott saved the game with a pretty goal, unassisted. Whitby insisted that Scott was offside and protested strongly to the referee. As a result, they were assessed a minor penalty for delaying the game and since there were less than two minutes to play, a penalty shot was also awarded to Port Perry. Lary Page took the puck, pulled the Whitby goalie and slipped the puck in the far side to count the insurance goal. Whitbys coach and man- ager were so upset by this series of events that they refused to finish the game until the referee reminded them of the consequences of - 'ended up in a 4-4 tie between this action. Final score was Toyota Wheels 9, Whitby 7. Also picking up points and playing some good hockey were Randy Crawford and Jamie Malcolm. Durward wasn't sharp for this game and if it weren't for 'the Wheels ability to score, the game could have been a big win for Whitby. The Wheels played Bay Ridges on Thursday, and handled them easily by the score of 6-2. The Port Perry team were short a couple of players due to illness and the seven forwards seemed "to thrive on the extra work. Don Tran scored from Horton and Crawford to lead off for the Wheels. Gord Scott, who always handles the puck well, counted with Cochrane and Rick Taylor picking up the assists, and Steve Jones scored two in a row. Van Camp, Gord Scott and Phil Cochrane counted points on Jone's. goals. After some good checking and two assists, Phil Coch- rane finally notched his goal with Tran picking up the assist. Tran scored his second of the night to end the Wheels keep on winning game and Sean Taylor and Dave Horton counted the assists. This was a rough game but there were only four penal- ties called throughout the game. Many high sticks and elbows went unnoticed by the referees and despite this rough play by Bay Ridges, the Port boys stayed on the ice. Well done, Boys! House League Hockey MIDGET Consumers Gas 4 - Carl the Butcher 1 Carl's took the lead early in the game trying to win their first game. This lead lasted for the first period and part of the second before Consumers came back with two goals in the second period and two goals in the third. John Kane scored the only Carl marker. Con- sumers goals were scored by Kevin Williams, Larry Page, Kevin Marten, and Jeff Lyon, with assists going to Jeff Lyon, Colin Asselstine, Larry Page and Tim Pearce with two. Wagg Bros. Texaco 6 - Grieves Gulf 6 Waggs scored 5 goals to Gulfs one in the first period, but in the second period Gulfs made a comeback to retain their no loss record. Waggs scoring was Scott Williams, David Felstead, Jack Gunter, Bill Newman and Gord Hinlze with two markers. Colin Wackett and - Paul Beare got two goals each for Grieves Gulf with Ritchie Leforte and Robt. Kroonenberg metting singles. Pee Wee } The first game Saturday Bolton and Wes Lane. Wes Lane took a 3-0 lead with goals by Mikelson, Ausman and Carriere. Bolton tied it up with goals by Nippard, Archibald and Cochrane. Then Wes Lane took the lead on a goal by Healy. Bolton tied the game on a goal by Aldred. The second game was close until the end of the game when Frank Real Estate scored on Glen Vallie Sod with six seconds left. The 2-2 deadlock went for most of the game. Shaw and Smith scored for Glen Vallie. Gould scored all of the goals for Frank Real Estate. BANTAM Emmerson Insurance downed Peels Chix 4-1: Scoring for Emmerson were Smits, Freeman, G. Lee, and F. Lee. McCallum scored the only goal for Peels Chix team. The Peels team was shut-out until late into the third period. ..Cochranes Trotters defeated Ballard Lumber in a close game. Nesbitt scored two goals for the Trotters to take a 2-0 lead. Gribben scored the" only goal for Ballard to make the game close. Moore scored the insurance goal to make the > NOVICE Kinsmen Club defeated Emiel's Place 5-1. Leading the scoring for Kinsmen was Stevenson with 2 unassisted goals. Scoring the singles for Kinsmen were Tobin and J. Cockerton unassisted, and Durham assisted by F. Cockerton. Scoring the single goal for Emiel's was Kingston assisted by Samells. Scugog Realty downed Tran's General Store 5-0. Scoring for Scugog were Gibson with 2 unassisted, Martin Unassisted, Pratt assisted by Farrell, and Farrell assisted by Pratt. ATOM Swamp Auto Body edged out Lions Club 1-0. Scoring for Swamp Auto Body was Lee unassisted. Lake Scugog Lumber Kings and U.A.W. battled to a 3-3 tie.
