Following Mr. Cec King's interesting showing of slides and commentary from his 25-day tour of Africa and South-America All the community gather- ed together on Friday even- ing, December 20th, and packed the centre for the annual Christmas Concert. Elaine Knight started the programme with a welcome recitation "A Christmas Kiss". Then the different grades each did their num- bers, such as acrostics, plays etc. An accordian solo was played by Eileen Bath and vocal solos were sung by Rev. McEntyre and Mr. Bill Lindsay and Reta Stickwood. A piano solo was played by Arnold Ashton. A monologue "The Day after Christmas" was given by Mrs. J. Schwerchert. Several Christmas Carols were sung throughout the programme, and Elnvr Rachid ended it nicely by a recitation 'I've got to go to Bed", and Santa and Mrs. Santa came. A silver offer- ing was taken which was given to the Salvation Army. Mr. Bruce Lehman was chairman. | The Christmas Sunday Morning service at the church was well attended. The lighting of the advent wreath was again done by the minister, the Jr. choir arid the Jr. church symboliz- ing Hope, Justice, Peace and Fulfilment. Rev. McEntyre spoke on "The Word made flesh" taken from St. John 1:1-14. The Junior and Senior choirs sang an arrangement of "Away in a Manager" as an anthem. The Jr. Choir went carol- ling around the village on Monday night and returned to the church for cookies and hot chocolate. The Christmas Eve Candlelight service was well attended and much apprec- iated by those who were there. Many have stated they hope it will be an annual service, that we might look forward to it another year. The scripture passages which were read by Heather Richardson, Lori Fleming prize and Arnold Ashton were followed by Carols. Mr. McEntyre brought a Christmas Eve message and the Jr. choir sang "Why? Because" and the Sr. choir sang "Thee didn't leave thy Throne". The Jr. choir enjoyed carol singing for some of the shut-ins and people around the village on Monday night ending up at the church to enjoy hot chocolate and cookies. Mr. and Mrs. D. Purdy of Orangeville visited with Mr. and Mrs. H. Ashton over Christmas. Misses Mary and Hilda Hopkins and Mr. Walter Hopkins spent Christmas (V2 Sa $level 0) } A i I or Citizens members of the Lions Club took on the duties of serving wine and cheese to about 75 senior citizens. Greenbank S.S. annual meeting will be held Mon., January 13th at 8:00 p.m., the annual Church meeting is Thurs., January 16th at 8 p.m. Mr. McCready spent a few days in Westport, New York and at - Crystal Lake in Ontario recently. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hill and family have arrived Home after spending two weeks in Florida. Mr. Lloyd Ashenhurst of Cardinal visited with Mr. and Mrs. Armour McMillan last week. Next card party January 17th at 8 p.m. Mr. Gary Lee is home from Trout Creek and will be attending Seneca College for the next eight weeks. New Year's visitors with Mr. and Mrs. V. Mount were their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. McNamara of Stouffville on Wednesday, and Mr. and Mrs. D. Paxton of Thornhill on Thurs. Some of the shut-ins and older residents enjoyed the 4-H girls carolling during the Christmas holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Smith of Saskatchewan were visitore in the Marsh Hill area during the holiday. Mrs. Fred Phoenix and Helen were in Toronto on Saturday attending a shower for Marnie Skinner and John Phoenix. Mr. and Mrs. Archie Empringham spend a few days last week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Allan Empringham in Agincourt. This is a queer season. Geese killed for Christmas were just ready to lay eggs, one farmer has four lambs and even the pigeons hatch- ed their young in a nearby barn just before Christmas. Wolves have been bother- ing sheep. and several of the marauders have been killed.
