Port Perry downs Pickering wins tournament second year Tournament got underway at 8:00 a.m. with Port Perry "B"s being defeated by Pickering 5-0. Second game was Uxbridge vs. Beaverton. Beaverton taking this one 2-1. The third game saw Port Perry "A"s nip Woodville in the final minutes by a 3 to 2 score. The fourth game, Bay Ridges bombed Newcastle 11-1. In the second round Ux- bridge eliminated P. Perry Pickering edged Beaverton 4-1. Woodville sent Newcastle home, whip- ping them 9-1. Port Perry's Malmont Farms "A" team eliminated Bay Ridges in a tough battle 3-2 to advance to da & I . The consulation round was won by Uxbridge, over- powering Woodville 9-0. Malmont Farms Atoms playing their best hockey this year took the local tournament by winning three games against Woodville, Bay Ridges and Pickering. In the first game Port met Woodville and it was well into the third period before the first goal came. Port opened the scoring at the 6:55 mark of the third period on an unassisted goal by Paul Storry. Woodville tied the score at the 8:54 mark only to have Paul Slory score at the 12:25 mar assisted by Russ Jones to put Malmont ahead by 2 to 1. Woodville tied the score 20 seconds later but at the 12:56 mark Sean Fewer assisted by Bob Horton scored to make the final count three to two for the Malmont gang. The second game saw Port against Bay Ridges and it was another close game. Port opened the -seoring at the 7:15 mark of the first period onta goal by Bob Horto sisted by Todd Blayone:--At the 1)748 mark of the same period Bob Horton put the local gang ahead by two to nothing. In the second period Bay ridges scored two goals to tie the score. At the 13:48 mark of the third period Sean Fewer assisted by Paul Storry put Port ahead by the score of three to two and the game ended without any further scoring. In the Championship game Port met Pickering and were in complete control of the game from the opening whistle. Scoring for Port Perry were Sean Fewer, Bob Horton and Phil Bower with two assists going to Sean Fewer and one assist going to Phil Bower and Bob Horton. Final Score was three to nothing for Malmont Farms The whole team played very well in the thre¢ games, but there were some players who were outstanding in the win and should be mentioned individually. Sean Fewer with three goals and two assists, Bob Horton with three goals and two assists and Paul Sotrry with two goals and one assists, Also, playing well for the victory were Phil Bower with one goal and one assist, Todd Blayone with one assist Allan Jones who played well both offensively and defen- sively, and our goaltender, Clay Lovering, who made several key saves.
