Brawn officially installed the new in-coming officers of the U.C.W. Following the ser- mon, offering was collected by Mr. C. Read and Mr. B. Pearce, comparatively new folk living here. We offer our sympathy to Mr. Lloyd Hunter and family over. the passing of a wife and mother. Eunice was a dedicated school-teacher and taught many of us some years ago in our village school. We do hope all the sick folk will soon be feeling better. Mr. and Mrs. M. Pugh were pleased to have their son Dennis home from Regina, Sask. Prior to Christmas, the two units of U.C.W. met in the church parlors for the festive meeting. Mrs. Roy Hope and Mrs. C. Andrews, presidents repre- senting both units chaired the brief business. Following reading of minutes, thank-you notes plus donations were read from Mrs. Wm. Lamb, the Lindsays and the Lansings, re the senior-age dinner they attended, December 10. Mrs. R. Brawn expressed appreciation to these people and a fire-place screen and fixtures was presented by the members. At this time a faithful member, Mrs. Eva Hunter, who had withdrawn from our membership list was pre- sented with a gift by Mrs. Hope. Eva responded in her usual manner. A rich devot- ion, lively games and pro- gram, and delicious pot-luck foods blended into a special evening. On Jan. 16, Unit 1 of the U.C.W. met at the home of Mrs. Roy Robinson with 18 in attendance. The secretary's minutes were read. The treasurer's annual figures indicated an eventful year. We are happy Mrs. Janet Vernon has decided to be among us. The retiring president, Mrs. R. Hope expressed the experience gained, and co-operation received from the rest of the members during her two year term and wished the same for the incoming pre- sident, Mrs. Wm. Wozney, who then chaired the new business after voicing brief opening remarks. It was suggested and dis- cussed that a change of " meeting night might prove more convenient to the majority, as a result, every third Wednesday was chosen on trial basis at present. It was announced five cheer boxes and two supply of groceries were given to various folk in our midst. Time arrived for Mrs. W. Vance and Mrs. C. Chamberlain, Toronto, and baby, Michael O'Laison for a week. Mr. and Mrs. B. Snelgrove accompanied by their daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. M. Hanson of Scarborough, have returned from three weeks under Florida climate. A group of ten ladies from Scugog Island met one day last week at the home of Mrs. Mabel Graham for the pur- pose of quilting and socializing. Mr. and Mrs. Les Beacock were happy to have their grandsons, Lee and Blair of Seagrave, for a recent week- end. Mr. and Mrs. R. O'Laison and Mr. and Mrs. Alan Murphy have returned from a vacation in Nassau. Mr. and Mrs. F. Brooks, Mr. and Mrs. J. Davidson, and Mr. and Mrs. L.. Beacock were among the eight couples who enjoyed being at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Holtby's of Prospect area for a going-away party for Mr. and Mrs. Oz Croxall, who now have left for Florida. A family gathering was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. O'Laison in honour of their son, Michael's first birthday. Those present included the baby's great grandma, Mrs. Rena Smith, and aunt Mrs. M. Murphy, grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Dickinson, Toronto, and Godparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Murphy, Port Perry, and Mr. N. Shunk. Mr. and Mrs. H. Dearborn and family joined with a large gathering at his par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. E.
