Rouge, defeat Pickering 6-1 Malmont Farms Atoms travelled to the Don Beer Arena on January 21 to play the West Rouge team. West Rouge opened the scoring at the 3:46 mark of the first period and this was the only scoring in the first period. Sean Fewer scored unas- sisted at the 6:44 mark of the second period to tie the score. Before one minute had passed West Rouge scored and went ahead by the score of two to one. At the fifty-six second mark in the third period Paul Storry scored, assisted by Chris Martens and Allan Jones to again tie the score. One minute later, Chris Mar- tens scored assisted by Paul Storry and Russel Jones to put the Malmont gang ahead by the score of three to two. Five minutes later Port went into a defensive slump and West Rouge scored two quick goals to finish the scoring for the game. Final score four to three for West Rouge. A & A Small Engine lost by only one goal. Malmont Farms were at home on January 24 and played an exhibition game against Pickering. Right from the opening whistle, Port showed the opposition they were out for a win. Port opened the scoring at the 4:17 mark on a goal by Sean Fewer, assisted by Todd Blayone and Eric Cro- well. At the 9:31 mark of the second period Chris Martens scored unassisted to make the score two to nothing for the Malmont gang. Pickering got back into the game at the 1:21 mark of the third period but this proved to be their only goal of the game, At the 5:07 mark, Todd Blayone scored, unassisted, three minutes later Sean Fewer scored assisted by Todd Blayone. At the 8:52 mark, Alan Jones scored unassisted and at the 14:25 mark Bob Horton finished out the scoring assisted by Todd Blayone. The big point geders in this game were Sean Fewer with two goals and Todd Blayone with one goal and three assists. Paul Storry didn't get any points in this game but he played an excellent game both offen- sively and defensively, and just narrowly missed scoring on several occasions. Clay Lovering played a steady game in the nets allowing only one goal. Final score 6 to 1 for Malmont Farms. Steve has become one of the team leaders on the club and his presence has been mis- sed in the last half dozen games. Nn Dave Bourgeois missed both the Lindsay and Sutton games because of the flu, but should be healthy for the Bowmanville game played last night. The big upset of the weeks action was Port Hope's 9-6 victory over the Cobourg Cougars on Thursday night. Bowmanville knocked off Frankford Huskies at home on Sunday night by a 4-3 score te secure their hold on fourth lace over the Huskies. Flamingos wilthave no play- off game this Sunday night, and at press time, the top three places are still up for grabs. The Flamingos play- ed their last scheduled game last night in Bowmanville, while Lindsay have a four point game against the Frankford huskies in Frank- ford on Friday night.
