The Flamingos showed the effects of their two week lay-off as they waited com- pletion of the Lindsay- Cobour series. Many of the local clubs passes were off target and the team as a whole were not skating as they did in the Frankford series. The Muskies as usual tried to intimidate the Flamingos in the early part of the game as they threw many hard body checks and kept their sticks up around every red and white sweater on the ice. The Flamingos did not accept this and did some hitting of their own and opened the scoring on an unassisted goal by Rick Campbell at 19:12 of the first period. The Lindsay club bounced back 12 seconds later to tie up the game on a goal by Steve Brooks on a wild scramble in front of the Port Perry net, The period ended 1-1. Mike Hadley put the Muskies ahead to stay in the second period on a wrist shot from fifteen feet in front. The turning point in the game came at the mid-way mark of the third stanza when Bob Marquis was in all alone on Lindsay goaltender Larry Alldred only to have the netminder make a sen- sational glove save of his low blast, the Lindsay club then moved down ice to score their third goal by Jim Coombes. ~ Steve Doyle scored the final goal of the game with less then five minutes remaining to make the final count 4-1. The Flamingo will have to find their hard skating, crisp passing game that they had in the Frankford series if they are to "knock off' this excellent Lindsay team. Barry Heard played a strong game in goal for the Flamingos making 32 saves while Larry Alldred was only called upon to handle 21 for Lindsay, which pretty well tells the story of this game. Rick Campbell was one of the few Port Perry players who seemed to be able to skate with the visitors in this game. The second game of the series was played last night in Lindsay with the third game stated for Thursday night at the Port Perry Arena. : A large crowd of over 600 fans were in attendance on Sunday and the crowds will get bigger as the series progresses. FLAMINGOS SPORT SHORTS For the first time this season the Flamingos had a full line-up without injuries. Larry Elson returned to the action but only - played a' couple of shifts. Bob Young and Ken Nightin- gale didn't dress for the game and their hitting was missed in this rough game. Competing in the Goodwood-Claremont Hockey Tournament, the boys won all four of their games to take the champion- ship trophy. The team, coached by Mr. K. Smart, was not a chosen team who had practiced together, but every student in the school who owned hockey equipment. Prior to the tournament, the only time the boys had played together was on a sheet of ice at the school, on which they played "shinny" at recess and noon hours.
