Gold medallist is Kim Owen, who placed in the pre-novice compelitions. Pam Kennedy won a silver " medal for- the bronze inter- pretive event and Heather Johnston won the silver award in the pre-juvenile evenl. Her sister, Joy John- ston, won a bronze medal in the juvenile competitions. The annual Pine Ridge Interclub event saw well over 100 skaters represent- ing some eight clubs in the area compete in keen competition. Represented were clubs from such places as Oshawa, Orono, Whitby, Uxbridge, Ajax, as well as the Port Perry area. Over a dozen skaters from the Port Perry Club attended the competitions. The all-day event finished off the club's skating com- petitions this year, although individual skaters may skate elsewhere in compelitions before the season is over. The Port Perry Figure Skating Club is nevertheless busy. however, preparing for their annual carnival to be held, April 4 and 5. As well as skaling 'rehearsals, costumes and props have to be completed for the event. One of the most colourful events held at the arena all year. Aldon Smith started off the scoring at 1:10 of the Ist period for Cawkers on a play assisted by Doug Scott. From that point until the end of the 1st period Duff's con- trolled the game picking up 3 goals. At 2:50 Ken Vipond scored assisted by John Van- houvale. At 8:11 it was John Vanhouvale from Tom Appelby. Then at 16:50 Bill 'Down picked up an unassist- ed goal to end the scoring in the 1st period. Duff's started the scoring at 1:23 of the second period on a goal from Ken Vipond assisted by John Vanhou- vale. Then it was Cawkers turn as Doug Scott scored at 6:30 assisted by Aldon Smith. Al 11:50 Aldon Smith scored from Doug Scott and Rob Evans. That was the end for Cawkers as Tom Appelby scored at 17:10 from Rick Gilbert and at 13:44. John Vanhouvale scored his sec- ond goal from Larry Down and Bill Down to end the game at 6-3. UTICA 3 BRIANS 1 Utica started the scoring very early in the game at 24 seconds on an unassisted goal by Eric Benns. Then at 13:15 Jack Mitchell scored from Ron Redman and Don Card to end the 1st period at 2-0 for Utica. Utica again started the scoring off on a goal by Ron Redman from Mike Mitchell and Tim Mitchell. Finally Brians pumped one into the net to end the scoring of the game. SMITS 1 COULTERS0 This was a surprising game as Smits the top team in the league and Coulters in sixth place, fought to win in a very close game. The only goal of the game was scored very early at 36 seconds into the first period on an unas- sited goal from Ken Nightin- gale.
