The Annual meeting of Honeydale Branch was held injthe Municipal Hall, April 10th. Prior to the business portion a pot luck luncheon was enjoyed. The Pres. Mrs. Dorothy Naples called the meeting to order in regular form at 2 p.m. with the singing of the Ode and repeating the Mary Stewart Collect in unison. Members and visitors were welcomed. ' The roll call was answered by payment of dues. A fitting, "In Memorian" for the late Mrs. Irne Whit- field was given by Mrs. Edith Brunton. Irene was a very fine member of the Branch and will be sadly missed by all. Her many qualities stood out, her humour, her loving disposi- tion and cheerful service at all times. Being an able leader she made an invalu- able contribution to the growth of Honeydale Branch. Report of a recent meeting of Ontario South District, held in Whitby, was present- ed by District Director Mrs. Marion Bell. Greenbank Branch will host the District Annual, to be held May 27th, in the United Church. Registration 9:15 a.m. A money raising project for the district will be a feature taking the form of a white elephant sale and home baking. Mrs. Edith Brunton com- mented on the Motto: ""Char- acter is the rgsult of two things - mental attitude and habits formed at home." Officers and conveners of the various departments presented a n nu a 1 reports showing a busy year for Honeydale Women's Insti- tute. Successful projects in- cluded: sponsoring two 4-H clubs, Local Leaders Train- ing School Course, Fall Fair exhibits, sompiling Twees- muir History, 'a successful Bazaar and Tea, an interest- ing Art Exhibition featuring the work of a member, taking good care of our sick and shut-ins, visiting other Branches, etc. Money was raised for Scholarship fund, local Fair Board, delegates expenses to Officers Conference held at Waterloo and area conven- tion held in Toronto, home- makeing club, Community Nursing Home, etc. a year of @ continued progress. After the report of the nominating committee was read by Mrs. Edna Wilson, it was a pleasure to welcme Mrs. Harold Lewis, District President from Claremont, who installed the officers. The District President brought members up to date on Women's Institute plans for the International (World) Ploughing Match which will be held east of Brooklin in September. Much of the initial planning has 'been done by the W.I. ploughing match committee for the three districts within the Region, but there is still a great deal to be decided, and meetings will be held to finalize the plans, hopefully completed by July. The P.R.O. extended the courtesy to the District Pres- ident, retiring President and the new President who will assume her duties in May.
