SAMUEL BROOKS (Alta) Doreen Van Nest, daughter of William Van Nest was born on July 5, 1901 atSolina, Ont. In the midst of anactive life, she died peace- ®jully, at her residence, 136 Wellington St. Bowmanville, on March 26, 1975. .. She was married on July 8, 1922 to Samuel Wesley Brooks and they took up residence in Oshawa. In 1933, - they purchased Glenndora Farm, Providence. - When her husband died in 1955, she carried on the farming oper- ation until she moved to Bowmanville in 1958. The largely attended ser- vice was conducted by Rev. W. Oake of Trinity United Church, of which she was a faithful member until her death. Her interests centred around her home, family, music and garden. She was an active member of the Hospital Auxiliary, and N&D Liberal Association. A loyal friend and willing worker, she will be sadly missed by a wide circle of friends. In 1944, she was saddened by the death of her oldest son, P.O. Glenn Wesley Br overseas. She is lovingly remembered by a daughter, Gwendolyn (Mrs. Lawrence Malcolm), Nestleton, a son, Grant, of Port Hope, 10 grandchildren, Gail, Bonnie, Glenn, Barry, David, Dennis, Laurie Malcolm, Gordon, Glenn and Glynis Brooks, 2 great grandchildren, Daniel JOHN GREENWOOD BARN THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR BARN. The service was held at the Northcutt-Elliot Funeral Home, Bowmanville at 2 o'clock, March 28 (Good Friday). Interment was in the Brooks family plot, Ebenezer Cemetery.
