The eight-inch diameter watermain on Simcoe Street from Balsam Street to Regional Road 8 and on Regional Road 8 from Simcoe Street to 800 feet west (2,800 feet), will provide water ser- vice for the proposed Port Perry arena, for future development in the area, and will improve the distribution system. B LILLA STREET Roads and bridges work for the area contained in the current budget include Lilla Street clearing, grubbing, and utility relocation, work preparatory to major, recon- struction which is scheduled for 1977. The existing road is. structurally inadequate and has a high maintenance demand, states the project outlined. Reconstruction of this section of Road 2 will complete the reconstruction of Road 2 from Oshawa to Seagrave. About $21,000 will be spent on the work. About $22,000 will also be spent on clearing, grubbin, fencing, and utility relocat- ion on Regional Road 7 from Highway 7A northerly to Scugog Centre (on Scugog Island). The work, according to the report, is preparatory for road reconstruction scheduled for 1978-79: Regional Road 8 from Regional Road 2 at. Port Perry to Epsom, also demands the outlay of $73,000 for completion of land pur- chases, fencing, clearing, grubbing and utility relocat- ion in preparation for road reconstruction in three years. The existing road is struc- turally inadequate and has a high maintanance demand, states the project report. About $47,000 is also desig- nated for Regional Road 23 from Regional Road 4 to Regional Road 21. Carry over includes erosion repairs and prime and double sur- face treatment. It is the completion of three construc- tion projects carried out in 1972, 73 and '74. Continuation of the Region- al Road 23 construction pro- gram to provide major north- south arterial road service from the Highway 401 area northerly to Beaverton along Regional road 23, will cost about $757.00. Completion of land purchasing, clearing, grubbin, and fencing, grading, drainage and gran- ular base is scheduled. About $2,000 has been set aside for land purchase along Regional road 57 from High- way 7A to Caesarea. Con- struction is scheduled for 1977. High maintenance demand due to structural inadequacy is the given reason for the work. In the Region's four-year forcast, a $363,000 standpipe is to be included for 1976, as well as the connection of a new well to the existing system and the completion of a feedermain system to supply the new standpipe. Total cost would be $1,177,000.
