ER ER ES. a" * + 240 United Church Women at My Two hundred and forty- . two women of the United Church from the seven Pres- byterials of the Bay of Quinte Conference met for a week- end school at Camp Quin-Mo- Lac (near Tweed), this month. * Colorful banners prepared by the seven Presbyterials set the scene, usihg the theme Bible Explorations and the 50th Anniversary of the United Church of Can- ada. Mrs. Andrew Benvie, of Picton, Dean of the school presided at all sessions nd kept the entire weekend on schedule. Mrs. Douglas Redpath, past leadership development chairman of conference was the chief co-ordinator in the planning and carrying out ot the school. ! A varied supply of interést- ing and informative litera-. ture was introduced by liter- erature secretary Mrs. Ken- neth Weaver of Stirling, ably assisted by Miss Verna Hill- yard, of Distribution Ser- vices, Toronto. Interest was so great that more than $1400. was spen; on literature. Enthusiastic singing of songs, both old and new was one of the highlights of the 'weekend under the leader- ship of Ross Metcalf, of Hampton, educational con- sultant with Northumber- land and Newcastle Board of Education, with special emphasis on music. < On Friday evening, five minute flashes (humor with a message) were presented by each of the seven presby- terials. Friday night vespers were conducted by the As- sistant Dean Mrs. Clifford- Minifie of Cold Springs, us- ing as her theme, Jesus, the Light of the World. Candles were lighted by everyone from a central candle until the darkened room was filled with light. Mrs. Jack Bush of Stirling led in the offering worship and dedications as she relat- ed some experiences of her daughter Jane, when she "visited Hong Kong on the youth , 'exchange program, last August. An offering of $256. was received to help bring 90 youth from the Third World Countries to the Presbyteries across Canada, next year. . A group of 12 councillors and councillors in training made their witness as they presented in slide and word some of the experiences of %s the 1975 program at Camp' ~ Quin-Mo-Lac, with the child- ren of the conference. Later all were led in four separate campfire programs with an impressive campfire closing. The theme of the school was introduced by Rev. Frazer Lacey, conference minister in the Kingston United Church office, in charge of programming and leadership, on Friday even- ing and later as he used the subject 'After the Celebra- tion What?' Miss Carol James Barrie, led the group in Bible Study in two separate sessions bas- ing the discussions on Mark 8: 27-38, when groups of six ladies became so involved that even though they had been strangers, they shared their joys, problems, prayed together and became cl friends. The (communion service preceding Sunday morning * breakfast and following wor- ship to start the day at the lakeshore was conducted by. Rev. Frazer Lacey and was one of the spiritual high- lights of the weekend. .
