28 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Nov. 26, 1975 News of interest from Seagrave area By Mrs. Keith Puckrin Many happy little faces peered out their windows Sunday morning to fifigzthe ground covered with our first skiff of snow. Much to their disappointment it had all melted by noon. The light snowfall and cool tempera- tures certainly puts us all in a frame of mind for Christ- mas. Only 27 more shopping days left fellas! A really good representa- tion from Seagrave support- ing the sports fund at Green- bank School at the dance at Club | Annrene Saturday evening was reported also a good time had by all. This being Grey Cup Week- end we found the Roger Boyles at a party in Westhill on Sunday while Jackies par- ents looked after Kelly and Alison. Those cubs and beavers from Seagrave who enjoyed the Ice Capades in Toronto last weekend included Mark and Ted Sturman, Patrick and Tony Bertrand, Parrish and Sean Fisher and Chris Maschke. Our sincere apologies to Mr. Ron :Nobbs for having him married 'in our column last week. Just a slip of the pen Ron and we are sorry. Unit 2 of our UCW met at the home of Mrs. Glenda Hutcheon on Thursday even- ing. &.r cookbooks have been a 'best seller'. We have decided to order more cook- hooks as we are unable to fill all the requests for them. We will have more soon, so please bear with us if you have been unable to obtain one. The next meeting will be in the form of a Christmas. Party to be held Monday, Dec. 15, at the home of Mrs. Diane Puckrin. Don't forget the annual . UCW Christmas Party to be held in the church Wed. evening December 10th at 8 p.m. All ladies are asked to bring a small gift of approx. $2.-$3.00 for a gift exchange that evening. Special White Gift service and Christmas pageant will be held on Sunday evening © December 7th at 7 p.m. in the. church. A lot of effort is being put into this evening so please plan to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Puckrin hosted 'a birthday party in honour of Roy's mother Mrs. Mildred Puckrin on Sunday. Dinner guests included Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mitchell of Lindsay, Miss Doris Holling- er of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Davis and Kristal of Oshawa, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Puckrin and boys and Miss Dianne Puckrin and: Mr. Gord Hooker. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wana- maker attended church ser- vices at King St. United Church, Oshawa on Sunday where their grandson, Wayne was guest soloist. Unit 1 of our UCW hasn't used much newspaper space in reporting their activities this year but they have been busy 'nevertheless. One of their fund-raising and fun projects has been "Break- fasting Out". The victim (one of their group). is not told what day they will be coming nor even that they will be coming at all, but some morning. .opens her. door to find a bunch of hungry women demanding breakfast. The latest surprised host- ess was Enid Belair who on Saturday was confronted by 9 women waving cards and singing "Happy Birthday". After they had shed their coats Mrs. Belair suggested that they do their morning exercises while she made hurried- preparations, then all gathered around the table for breakfast and an hour of chit-chat. Each guest makes a donation which is eventual- ly passed on to the UCW treasurer. Advice to any who might receive a visit-don't be un- duly alarmed if you are caught in bed. It has happen- ed more than once already. This group had luncheon with Mrs. Carr last Wed. They were invited. Plans are under way for their annual Christmas party which is scheduled for December 1st at the home of Mrs: B. Wanamaker. The "Seagrave Stitchers" 4-H Club have Cofiipista their course for this season and entertained their moth- ers or a close friend at their final meeting last Wednes: day evening. Mrs. Jean Nod- well gave a demonstration of making flowers from woo! and everyone had a try at it. There was plenty of punch and lots of cookies for all.
