Litt's team 'again excelled in their pass- ing while the goaltenders were not conspicuous. In the second game, the goaltending. improved mira- .culously with Doug Calver and Glenn McCurdy making excellent saves. Randy Knight's team edged Gerry Lane's 4-3 in a hard fought contest. WRESTLING Port Perry High School will host a tri-meet Tuesday, December 2 at 3:30 p.m. Dunbarton and Harwood (Ajax) High Schools will be the visitors. On December 10 (Satur-. day), Port Perry will attend a novice meet at O'Neill Collegiate in Oshawa. Weigh-in time will be 8 am. BOY'S BASKETBALL The Port Perry "Midget boys, team opened the season with a close 28-25 win over Uxbridge. With eight seconds remaining Port was losing 25-24, but Bill Owen "was fouled at that point, went to the line and coolly sank both free throws to put Port ahead 28-25. The game was a see-saw affair with both teams playing somewhat erratic basketball since it was their first game of the season. On Wednesday, November. 26, the Senior Boys' Basket- ball Team travelled to Oril-. lia for an exhibition game against Orillia District High School, one of its teams in Georgian Bay. Barebow shooters are al- lowed a 60 per cent handicap and sight-shooters are allow- ed a 50 per cent handicap. This handicap system is based on the difference between the perfect score of 300 and the shooters score (under 249). For instance if an archer shot a score of 200 with sight, the difference would be 100 pts. 50 per cent of which is 50 points, which would bring his score (with handicap) to a grand total of 250 points. Blackstock, Port Perry students participate Curling season begins Every indication is that it will be another good year for the Student Curling League on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoons at the Port Perry Curling Club. Around 80 students from R. H. Cornish, Port Perry High School, and Cartwright High School have *signed on for the season, and many of them bring with them the experience of past years involvement. in the program. Regular play began last week, preceded by about two weeks of curling instruc- tion for beginners and practice. Operating for well over a decade, the program gains in popularity annually, and enjoys the full: co-operation and enthusiasm of the host Port Perry Curling Club. The two dollar fee the club charges the young curlers is considered a token payment only. This year is the first for the three times a week sched- ule. Last year, students curled only two afternoons a week. In the Monday League, the team of Doug Larmer, Bob Fellows, Janet Parsons and Christine English tied the Il orts Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1975 -- 25 hard fought game 51-48, but showed well in losing this close decision to such a strong squad on their home court. GIRLS BASKETBALL On Monday, November 24, the Port Perry Junior Girl's Basketball Team partici- pated in a Round Robin Tournament to determine third place in the League. They played very well con- sidering official practices had ceased two weeks prior. They weres defeated by Eastdale 32-21 with Leslie Forder being the top scorer. They came back to win against Central 20-17 with Mary Parish and Leslie Forder as top scorers. Unfortunately their total overall points were insuffic- ient to claim third place. P.P.H.S. athletics in full swing Their season is now official- ly over and all girls are to be warmly congratulated for their efforts. On ..Tuesday, November 25, Port Perry Senior Girls' LOSSA East quarter-finals by defeating Courtice. Top -scorer for Port Perry was Kim Owen. This win entit- led Port Perry to advance to a the LOSSA semi-finals against Oshawa Catholic High School. Port Perry lost this game to an excellent team. Top scorer for Port Perry was Bev. Simmonds. Fairman and Kim Real moved six points ahead of the team of Jack Gunter, Hal Storry, Barry VanCamp and Susan Parish. - The score was 7-1. - The team of Lee Howsam, Ellen Buller, Stuart Wood and Martha McCallum edged the team of Tom Wot- Sweepers in action ten, Hal McMahon, Darline Vince and Mike Pelletier 6-4, and the team of Peter Bateman, Stephen Geer, Paula Drew and Mary Rose lost 7-2 in a match with Phil Archer, Bryan Nicholsen, Mark Vince and David Bruce. In Wednesday's action, the team of Paul Griffen, Susan Slute, Careron Hobden and Brad Howsam defeated the team of Bill Sharpe, Lori Cochrane, George Burnett and Mike Barton 5-3. Only one point separated the winners from losers in a match between teams con- sisting of Mark Wanninkhof, Andy Ruesink, John Howell, Peter Stone and Beaver Howsam, Grant Stone, Kelly Fewer and Brian Suther: land. It was Howsam"s team 3, Wanninkhof's 2. In other action, the team skipped by Elaine Elliott edged Allison McNab's team 5-4. The winners were Doug MacKinnon, Tracy Fitze and Bruce Young. The McNab team consisted of Dorothy Fitze, Jack Wanninkhof and Keith MacKinnon. .
