_ Nestleton, Caesarea area news PY] By Jean Bolan An evening of combined business and pleasure was thoroughly enjoyed by several area residents on Thursday, November the 25th in the Nestleton Recre- ation Center. Six tables of euchre were set up. The winners were as follows: lady's high- Mrs. Don Daniels; Lady's low.- Mrs. A. Williams. Men's high - Mr. W. Rohrer and low went to Mr. B. Moore. Following the card games, Mr. Norm Johnston, 'president of the Recreation center commit- tee, informed us as to the reason for the evening, dur- ing which time Mrs. Ann Lee and Mrs. Dorothy Lee served coffee and do-nuts. Mr. Johnston gave a com- plete and detailed resume of donations, events, expenses, etc. regarding the Center since its origin. He then read a financial statement that would shame any book- keeper. Norm, as well as the other committee mem- bers, wish to convey to local citizens that more help with the preparation of salads, etc. for their dances would most definitely be appreci- ated. All dances held by the 'above mentioned committee have been quite successful but as Norm related to us, "it is a time consuming task and the same few invariably assist' which is indeed quite correct. If anyone wishes to offer their services, please contact Jean Williams at 986-4788 for added inform- ation. Preparations are made on the morning prior to each dance. The next dance is to be held on Dec- ember the 13th, with Faye Adams providing the music. Please watch for notices in your copy of the "STAR" or in various shops around town. As Norm states, "We wanted a new Recreational Center...we have it...we are ahead of the game financial- ly, so let's keep it that way." I, Among others, feel that the Nestleton Recreation Center.committee has done an excellent task on our behalf...all on a volunteer basis...won't you help also? I wish to take this oppor- tunity to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Don Daniels to our community. They attended the above mentioned meet- ing and have volunteered their services to assist the committee in any possible way. They shall indeed be an asset to the community. The weekly euchre party held by the Caesarea and area ladies was in the home of Mrs. Elna Forsyth on Monday of last week. Winners were, first Mrs. Helen Wilkins; second Miss Melody Train and the "booby" went to yours truly. The luncheon, consisting of hot potato salad, etc., was delicious. The next game shall be in the home of Mrs, Irene Train. A praye goad health, Viyella Shirts by Deacay Biss, Wool and Cotton Blend. Sweaters ; by Jantzan * Cardigans * Crew Neck * V-Necks * Sleeveless Vests Priced from $1200 offered on behalf of our aged or infirm. God bless each of you. I read this recently and found it only too true...No matter how much we may try to improve on Mother Nature...we are not kidding Father Time, « When the female members of the Canadian Forresters in Nestleton and area decid- ed to entitle their court 'Lady Snowbird', they must have had psychic powers. As of March the 5th, 1965, when we became a Charter, each function that is planned no matter what date is selected in late fall or spring, it snows. Such was the case last week as we were preparing for our annual bazaar and tea. The majority of you ladies are well aware of the work involved in the preparations for 'a bazaar, weeks of sew- . ing, etc. and baking the day prior to or the morning of the sale plus setting up tables, chairs and displays and numerous other small tasks seem to be éndless. No matter how we plan we seem to be a rush at the last minute. Have you ever seen two pumpkin pies in orbit? I have....it is quite simple to do...simply stack five pie holders atop one another and as yau reach for your wet car door...let one foot slip in the slush...that will do it every time. Oh, well, our dog loves pumpkin pie. It wasn't a total loss for I Nash & Park Hall Nice Assortment Checks and Plain Soe Wns Ieoppe 72 WATER STREET - PORT PERRY - 985-8108 ('across from Ball Park at Lakefront ) saved three pies, and the bazaar was by far the most successful to date. Once more, we the members of Court Lady Snowbird realize just how important it is to be a small portion of a big hearted community. "Friends from surrounding villages and from our own, as well, were in attendance. The President, Dorothy Lee, bid all a warm welcome and then introduced Mrs. Wendy Dixon and her pupils, the Cartwright School Chorus to all present. The children are a credit to Mrs. Dixon's ability in the field of vocal culture, as well as to their parents. They entertained in voices in such perfect harmony and so delightful to hear that we almost forgot we were having a bazaar. This same chorus sang at the official opening of the new Nursing Home recently in Port Perry. If you are ever given the opportunity of hearing them sing, don't pass it up for you will miss something quite beautiful. Following the chorus, the | president then introduced Stickers available The 1976 license renewal stickers for passenger cars and trailers are now on sale any of the 296 license issuing offices, throughout the pro- vince. The local office being on Water Street, Port Perry. Validation stickers for pas- senger cars will be blue in colour; those for trailers will be red. Fees will remain the same ...at $23.00 for a four-cylind- er car; $32.00 for six-cylin- ders; $40.00 for an _eight- cylinder car and $5.00 for a trailer.
