The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. George Roberts, R.R.2, Newcastle, and the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Birkett, Port Perry. Reverend Wesley Oake, officiated. Mr. John Crookshank was the organ- ist. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She chose a formal, lace gown of Empire fashion, and featur- ing a scoop neckline, for her wedding dress. Pink, pull through ribbon and flower appliques trimmed the bodice and hem-line. An attached chapel train was trimmed with a frill. A floral spray, tipped with pearls, held a three tiered, silk illusion veil with scal- loped pearl trimmed edge, and she carried a bouquet of white carnations, pink Sweetheart roses, baby's breath, and accented with pink lace ribbons. The maid of honor, Miss Elaine MclIndless, wore a formal gown. of deep fall pink with a matching hat. The bridesmaids, Miss Debbie Roberts, bride's sister, and Misses Gail and Brenda Birkett, sisters of the groom were gowned alike in aqua blue gowns and matching hats. The groom and his attend- ants wore light blue tuxedos, with black velvet lapels and bow ties, and black trousers. Best man was the groom's cousin, Mr. John Kent, and the ushers Mr. Richard LAMM WPAN SUSTRMA EA Kent, Mr. Paul Flieler, groom's cousins, and Mr. Douglas Barton, bride's uncle. Wearing a formal gown of deep purple, matching cape, white accessories, and a cor- sage of white Sweetheart roses, the bride's méther received the guests at the reception and dance held in Little Britain shows caution concerning future growth Mariposa Township officials are expressing caution in light of recent signs of expansion in the Little Bri- tain area...signs that indic- ate the area could grow to a population of more than 1,400. Three plans ob ision proposed for the Little Britain outskirts, all in var- ious stages of approval, would provide a total of more than 350 building lots adjacent to the village of 250 people. Although township officials admit that there are few building lots available in the area, except by way of land severence, tant to go into wide scale severances without subdivis- the Legion Hall, Bowman- ville. She was assisted by the groom's mother, in a light green gown, matching . jacket 'and a corsage of yellow Sweetheart roses. Friends 'and relatives attended from Ottawa, Georgian Bay, Cloyne, Har- lowe, Whitby, Port Hope, Port Perry, Oshawa, New- castle and Bowmanville. Mr. and Mrs. Birkett are now residing in Oshawa, on Simcoe Street: N., Princess Ann Apts. they are reluc- . 'northeast of ion plans because of the high risk of scattered, ill-control- led strip development. Just to accommodate the fact that there is a shortage of housing, township officials think, is no justification for creating a building boom. On the other hand, the township would be "pleas- ed" if a developer would make a move so that there would be lots available to lessen the acute shortage of building lots. Plans now- under consider- ation include a three-year- old proposal by Orsi Brothers which calls for the development of 233 lots the built-up area of the village. Next step for the developer is to approach Mariposa Town- ship with a revised subdivis- ion agreement. An agreement is expected to be ready in the near future for Mariposa's ap- proval for an 1l-acre,-17-lot subdivision south of the vill- age, The proposal was put foreward by Dennis Good- fellow. - Third proposal is for the development of more than 100 lots northwest of the village by a 'Bowmanville construction firm. The most recent of the proposals, it is still in the preliminary - stages.
