6 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1975 "Seagrave and area news of interest . By Mrs. L. Somerville The special holiday season certainly has to be the great- est time of year. It's a time for memories and it's the one time of year when we always manage to find that valuable time we've -been saving all year long, to enjoy the company of those we love. However, with Christmas in the past, we can now look forward to the New Year festivities and our waistlines a little heavier and our pocket books a little lighter. Like predicted, our annual Christmas Concert was a real success with all of the credit due to our dedicated teachers and the Sunday School children. Every part was played to perfection and of course, the big highlight of the evening being when Santa arrived on schedule to pass out those special little presents under the Christ- mas tree. The Christmas Church ser- vice was an enjoyable relax- ing morning with special music from our choir. A big note of thanks goes to our choir leaders, Mrs. Joan Lee and Mr§. Fern Tobin for their dedication. It certain- ly was much appreciated, folks! Our heartiest congratul- ations go to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Honey on the arrival of their twins. This certain- ly was a great Christmas present for the Honey family and to top that off, they arrived home in time to spend Christmas with their new family. STARTS JANUARY 7th Our get well wishes go to Mr. Bernard Standish who has been convalescing in the Community Hospital, but I understand "is now resting nicely at home. Keep up the good work, Bernard! Mr. and Mrs. Don Hunter enjoyed the hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. Gerry Hunter of .Greenbank on the -pre- vious Saturday when they attended the Hunter family Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Thomas and Debbie -of Ajax were Sunday evening visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Puckrin. I also would like to thank the dedicated Seagravers who give of their time to keep the ice on the river in such perfection.. Many families have been enjoying this fabulous skating rink over the holiday season. So thanks, fella, without you this wouldn't have been possible! Christmas Day always sees a lot of families coming and going and those I managed to track down are as follows: Mr. and Mrs. John Tobin and Mr. Reg. Abraham were 'Christmas dinner guests together with the rest of the Tobin Family at Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Tobins of Oshawa. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stone and family were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Wanamaker on Christ- mas day. = Mr. and Mrs. Roger Boyle and family journeyed into Toronto to enjoy Christmas Supper with Jackie's parents and then on Boxing Day they were busy enter- taining Roger's parents to the Boyle family Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bran- ton and family were in Oshawa on Christmas Day, first to Bonnie's parents and then on to Frank's parents. Then on Saturday, they entertained friends from Oshawa to a stating party on the River and then back to Branton's for supper. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Sturman and family enjoyed Christ- mas Day with Eleanor's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clar- ence Rowan of Bethany, and then on Sunday evening, they were supper guests of Mr.. and Mrs. Howard Rowan, also of Bethany. Mr. and Mrs. Wilf Sturman were Christmas Day guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Sweetman of Bowmanville. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Puckrin entertained the. Puckrin family on Christmas Day to dinner and then, Mr. and Mrs. Keith Puckrin and family were supper guests _at Mr. and Mrs. Alan Eli- cott of Port Perry, and Mr. and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Puck- rin and family were supper guests. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Harris of Cambray. Then on Sunday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Puckrin entertained the Harris family to their annual Christmas dinner, You could find Mr. and Mrs. Len Somerville and Melody-Anne at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Fee of Blackstdck for. On Saturday evening, they played host to the Somerville" Christmas Party and on Sunday had a few neighbours and their families 'in for left-overs. Mr. and Mrs. Don Beacock and family were Christmas - dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Rodd of Manchester and . then on boxing day they too played host to the Beacock Christ- mas. On Sunday evening they enjoyed the festivities of the Rodd Family Christ- mas, this year being held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Rodd. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Wana- maker sort .of visited and were visited on Christmas Day but on Boxing Day, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wanamaker of Prince Albert entertained the Wanamakers to a family Christmas. They have since had the enjoyment of their grandchildren from Oshawa and together with the grand- children, they were Satur- day evening dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ross of Utica. ._ Mr. and Mrs. Bert Hutcheons were the hosts to a Christmas dinner for Mr. and Mrs. Taylor of Good- wood and friend, and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Taylor of Robinglade Estates. Our heartfelt sympathy is extended from the commun- ity to Mr. and Mrs. Hank Bertrand, formally of Honey's Corners, on the sudden passing of Mrs. Bertrand's father, Mr. Bill Gliddon of Port Perry on Christmas morning. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wilson and girls of Scugog Island were Sunday afternoon visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stone. There will a Sunday School meeting next Sunday evening, January 5th at 7:00 p.m., and we would ask you to make a note of this date. The agenda is mainly on the future 'of our Sunday School. We have a fantastic atten- dance of children but unfor- tunately we are lacking leadership particularly in the line of music and .of course, teachers are always in demand. Anyone inter- ested in helping to keep our Sunday School going or if you have any ideas on how 220 COCHRANE ST. to help, are asked to attend this meeting. Being a helper in our Sunday School] requires only one hour of your time on Sunday mornings, so let's have a lot of support and 'make it a successful meeting. Church and Sunday School have gotten back to normal. « There has not been birthday money. to report this Sunday morning, but Shane Branton and Joey Stone contributed their pennies on the previous Sunday.
