JEFFREY Ethel Jeffrey passed away in the Community Nursing Home, Port Perry, on Sun., February 8, 1976, in her 87th year, She was born in Montreal on May 28, 1889, daughter of Sophia Anderson and Robert Gauld. She attended a priv- ate school in Montreal West and won a scholarship in Commercial Art. On June 4, 1913, she married Cyril Courtice Jeff- rey of Port Perry, who pass- . ed away in 1953. She resided in the family home on Coch- rane Street until May of 1974 when she entered the Com- munity Nursing Home. Mrs. Jeffrey was a mem- ber of the' United Church and for many years was very active in the Primary Department of the Sunday School, the Mission Band and was pianist for the Women's Missionary Society. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Frank Slemmon (Hazel), of Port Perry, her son Robert, of - Oshawa, one -granddaughter Mrs. Hilton Ireland (Dawn) and four great grandchild- ren Deborah, Robert, Jeff- rey, and David Ireland, all of Port Perry. Manor, Oshawa, on January 25, 1976, having suffered a severe stroke about two weeks earlier. Olga E. Ferguson was born in Cartwright Town-. ship on October 12, 1892, the, eldest child and only daugh- ter of William -C. and S. Kezia (Beacock) Ferguson. She grew up in Cartwright and received her schooling at S.S. No. 8, Egypt. On November 2, 1918, she was united in marriage with Robert Cecil Hill, also of Cartwright. Ollie and Cecil farmed on the Jobb home- stead, Lot 11, Con. 6 of Cartwright for. over 20 years, later maving to the "village of Blackstock to be with and care for Cecil's mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Jobb. Her father also lived with them for a few years before his death. After Cecil's death in February of 1961, Ollie remained in Blackstock . activities. until August of 1974° when she decided to move to Hills- dale Manor, where she made many new friends. From . early childhood, Ollie was keenly interested in Church and community From, the days when the young people pre- sented plays at Christmas 'time to the time of Senior Citizens' activities, + she always took her part and encouraged others to partic- ipate as well. A faithful member of Blackstock United Church, she led the Parsons officiating. ' two brothers, the Rev. Clar- ence Ferguson: of Toronto and the Rev. Merrill Fergu- son of Oshawa. She was predeceased by two brothers Girvin in "1900 and Roy in 1970. The funeral was held Jan. 28 from McDermott-Pana- baker Funeral Home, Port Perry, with Rev, Victor 'Many. floral tributes and donations attested to the esteem in which she was held. -' Interment was in Union Cemetery, Cadmus. The Mission Band and was--9pall bearers were Kenneth Superintendent of the Prim- ary Department of the Sun- day School for many years. She was active in the W.M.S., W.A,, and later the U.C.W. of which she was a Life Member. A member .of Blackstock Women's Institute, she was, _for many years, in charge of the fruit and flower commit- tee and, a reporter, she gathered the news for the weekly newspapers in the area. Left to mourn her loss are a daughter, Marion (Mrs. Stanley Rahm) of Black- stock, two grandchildren, Paul Rahm of Ottawa and Carol (Mrs. Porter) of Blackstock, 6 great grandchildren, and Cameron - \ Brown, Dalton Dorrell, Lloyd Wright, George Dun- bar, Bill Ferguson and Noel Morton.
