12-- PORT PERRY STAR --_ Wednesday, Apr. 28, 1976 Earle Moss in Town Hall Fine artist, appreciative audience By P. Hvidsten Perhaps never before, dur- ing its more than 100-year history has the old Town Hall been filled by such beautiful sound of music, as happened on two occasions within the span of two months. In February, Port Perry and area music lovers were privileged to hear Canada's outstanding, World famous contralto, - Maureen Forrester in a recital, which can only be described as a tremendous success. Friday night, the Town Hall was fortunate to host a second Canadian artist, the eminent concert pianist, Earle Moss, also rated one of 'the leading pedagogues in his musical field. Despite the fact Mr. Moss faced a very small audience when he entered the Town Hall stage, he met the public - with a charming and friendly approach. The immediate and intimate contact bet- ween the. artist and the public was of such a spon- taneous nature that every- one arose and gave_him an enthusiastic, standing ovation. For a layman to even . attempt offering a personal im ion of thé program in etail would be futile. One "can only be happy to have had the opportunity of sitting back and enjoy the artist's excellent interpretations of the various composer's creative work, whether it was Poulenc, Debussy, Beethoven or Chopin. The program Mr. Moss: had - chosen to play for the local public was varied and inter- esting and his remarkable presentations of the many moods and temperaments from the most tender pianis- simo to the powerful fortiss- imo, proved him to be a master of it all. At the completion of his' program, Mr. Moss again received a genuine, standing ovation, which the artist generously rewarded the attentive Jjsteners with four ~ delightful encores. Mr. Moss told the Doctor, he had never before performed SN HEINTZMAN to a more delightful and appreciative audience. Fur- thermore, he never before. had offered encores- at his recitals, and in the Town Hall Friday night, Mr. Moss played not only one, but four ,encores in order to satisfy the appreciative audience.
