A CANADIAN PUBLIC COMPANY WHOSE ONLY BUSINESS IS HELPING -PEOPLE « / Meals on Wheels hold conference The Meals on Wheels Com- mittee of Communjty Care Services (Metropolitan 'Toropto) Incorporated is planning an Ontario confer- ence for Meals on Wheels groups as well as for individ- uals or groups who might be contemplating starting such a program and who are looking for information and support in getting started. The conference is planned from the evening of 18th May to 3p.m. 20th May, 1976, tobe be held at Villa Col newly opened Italian Home for the Aged in Toronto. Information pamphlets have been mailed to all those - Meals on Wheels programs throughout Ontario of which we are aware. However, there is every likelihood that some operations have been missed. The cost is exceed- ingly reasonable - $25.00 for registration which includes in addition to conference expenses, two lunches, one dinner, in addition to an evening reception for all delegates on' 18th May. Those people wishing acco- modation Tuesday night through to the conclusion of the conference will pay Jr. Farmers To most 16 and 17 year olds, farming is getting back to the land and the fresh, clean air of the countryside. But those taking part in the Ontario Ministry of Agricul- ture and Food's Junior Agri- culturalist program dis- cover, firsthand, that's not all it takes to run a success- ful farm operation. Host farmers for the Junior Agriculturalists ac- cept the responsibility of helping these inexperienced young people over a nine- --week period during the summer. They're interested in young people and interest- ed in teaching them the -« basics of agriculture...from livestock production to _ machinery maintenance. This summer, the Junior " Agriculturalist program will be operating for the fourth season. Younf people will be placed on selected commer- cial operations throughout the province, where they will __ live with, and participate in, the regular activites of the family. The young people will receive a training allowance of $16.00 a day, of which the Ministry will pay $6.00 and the host farmer will provide $5.00 cash, in addit- ion to room and board worth $5.00 a day. .. Details of the program and ° applications for host farmers and interested young people are available from county and district offices of the Ontario Ministry of Agricul- ture and Food.
