According to Mayor Carl Puterbough a smal) study of the building done in 1968 indicated that extensive work would have to be done in order to keep the arena open to the public. So far there are no plans for the building, other than to wait for the report which should arrive soon. . NEWCASTLE - The Committee of the Whole here decided in a special meeting last week that it wants more time to consider the draft offical plan for the Durham Region, but it won't be getting any. The request for a 30 day delay was turned down by the Durham Region's planning and development commit- tee during a closed door session with the town council. BOWMANVILLE - Auctioneer Steve Liptay, the only Canadian competing in the World Championship Auctioneer Competition, has emerged champion.
