During July and August there will be no Sunday School at Utica. - Bring your picnic basket and cutlery to the Epsom and Utica Sunday School picnic at Poplar Park on Sunday, July 11 at 12:30 a.m. Sincere sympathy is ex- tended to Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ballard in the recent bereavement of her brother, Mr. Leonard Woods. A benefit dance for Mr. and Mrs. Keith Ashton who recently lost their barn by lightning, will be held in Utica Memory Hall on Fri- day evening, July 16. Do plan to attend. Mrs. Chester Holley with Mrs. Ron Jackson and Nicole and Chad of Mark- dale spent Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn MacCan- nell "and visited her father Mr. MacDonald in hospital at Port Perry. Mr. Grant MacCannell of Markham was a Saturday visitor with the MacCannell. Mr. Norman Brennand and friends of Newmarket recently called on Mr. and Mrs. William Lowe. ' Mrs. Lloyd Taylor and Mrs. Lowe called on Mrs. Handel on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Orchard of Echo Bay and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd White of Brooklin were recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Thompson. The Thompsons and Mr. Baker visited Mrs. Jim Miller of Mount Albert on Thursday and spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Dave Park of Bowmanville. Boy Scouts, Brian Suther- land, Ian and Michael Rud- kin, Richard Ashton, Brad- ely Wilcox and Jim Powell with their leaders, Dennis Symes and Ross Munroe and helpers Ernie Johnston and Terry Munroe enjoyed a canoe trip in the Point au Baril area on the week-end. They canoed the Naiscoot River, portaged to Horse- shoe Lake, then to Evans Lake where they camped. On Saturday they canoed through beaver dams, port- aged to High Lake where they fished and then return- ed to camp where they cooked their fish for supper. Mrs. David Tripp of Port Perry visited Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ballard on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Gray, Wendy and Wayne called on Mrs. Mitchell last week. Mrs. James E. Mitchell and Mr. and Mrs. Milt Par- kin dined out at Brooklin on Sunday. Mrs. Roy Sutcliffe spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Miller of Mississauga. Mr. and Mrs. Don Sutcliffe Ryan and Warren of Janel ville and Miss Sandra Bray of Raglan were Sunday visitors with the Sutcliffes. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brown and Charlie spent the week- end at. their cottage at Haliburton. Mr. and Mrs. Hillis Wilbur and their boys visited Mr. and Mrs. Dave Morton of Ajax on Saturday evening. Miss Marie Collins of Bow- manville spent a few days with Miss Kathy Sutcliffe last week. On Saturday, August 28, the Epsom Centennial Committee has planned a parade down the main street of Epsom and is hoping for as many entries as possible Do plan to take part in this. Another Centennial event takes place on Saturday evening, July 10, when a programme and Strawberry Festival will be held in Epsom United Church. The programme beings at 8 p.m. and will be followed by lunch in the basement. In the meantime volunteers are urgently needed to help put the aluminum siding and dry wall that is stored :1 the basement on the new i/ash- room building that has been erected.
