After all, he'd told the Queen he was. sailing for the Indies, and how. could he tell her hed got lost? Great explorers don't lose things, they find things. Oh, it was humiliating! "1 know what happened when he stepped ashore. "Okay", he said to his first lieutenant, "We ] just tell her we discovered this other place and it was better than the Indies. Women don't know - anything about geography, and she won't care if it's east or west as long as it's uninhabited and we discover it. Just then a fellow drew up in a cart pulled by two wild turkeys and said, 'Allright, Bud, where'd yu wanna go?' Shaken, Christopher Columbus managed to gasp, "Take me to the Lost Treasure." "Sorry, Bud," the wild turkey driver said, "It's closed. Vice squad moved in last week and tossed all the girls in the slammer." Thinking quickly, Columbus asked, "Hey man! What's all this with the fellows running around with feathers in their hair?" To this the taxi driver replied, "Well, we got a lot of them kind around here. Wait 'til you see the guys killing the turkeys and eating 'um." "Yuck!", said Columbus. "Well, 1 don't mind them eating the turkeys," said the turkey driver, '/It's no skin off my nose, but they don't even care what year they are. Jo A yu Every year the General Turkey Corporation puts out a new model and before you're even out of the showroom they've started moulting. | swear, it's this damn stuff they put on the roads for the winter. Say, Bud, this meter's runnin up. Where'd yu wanna go?' Christopher Columbus said, "My friend and | are interested in spices." "Yeah? What kind of spices?' 'Maybe pepper." '"D"you mean newspepper? | guess you'd want the Misssalvador News. That's the biggie, won all the awards." "We'd better go sovngwhere and talk this over,' Columbus replied. 'Take us somewhere to eat." "What d'yu want? D"yu wanna eat Jewish, Italian, Polynesian, or Chinese? We got them all. 'Or do yu wanna explore a little?" "Don't get smart!' 'What did | say?' The first lieutenant answered, "My friend is felling a little sensitive about certain words, that's all." 'D'yu mean he's Jewish? We don't care, we take all kinds here. And some of them are real turkeys, let me tell you." } "What will we tell Her Majesty?" Columbus wailed.
