Parsons was the officiating clergyman. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Berry of 122 Second St., Deseronto, Ont. The groom is the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Porrill of RR 2 Blackstock. In a candlelight cere- mony, the bride wore a floor-length gown of misty mint green silk, white hat surrounded by a pale yellow scarf and white daisies. She carried a colonial bouquet of yellow and white daisies, yellow baby roses and baby's - breath. Accompanying the bride was Carol Mairs, of Black- stock, Ont. acting as matron- of-honour. She wore a long gown of pale yellow jersey, with - white hat and mint Preston - On Saturday, July 17th, Heather Faye Preston and John Quest Cooper were united in marriage by Rev. MacIntyre in the United Church, Port Perry. The bride is the second ] Porrill - Ok 3 EL . \ green scarf. She carried a colonial bouquet of white and green daisies and baby's breath. The groom was accompan- ied by Robert Mairs of Blackstock, acting as best- man. The ushers were Ray- mond Porill, brother of the groom, RR 2 Blackstock and Michael Wheeler also of RR 2 Blackstock, Ont. They all wore tuxedos. of sand and brown with match- ing ruffled shirts and vests. All wore a boutineer of clust- ered bronze mums except for the groom, who had a yellow rose. The champagne and cake buffet reception was held at the Blackstock Community Hall and followed by a dance. The couple spent their honeymoon north and west of Ontario and will reside at 141-A Scugog Road ' East, Port Perry, Ont. Cooper eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Preston of Port Perry. The groom is the second youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cooper, also of Port Perry. (continued on page 31) Slute - Nestleton United Church was the setting for the wedd- ing of Sandra Dianne Mairs and John Leonard Slute on Saturday, July 17, 1976 with Rev. Victor Parsons officiat- ing. The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Mairs of RR 1 Nest- leton and the groom is the eldest son of My. and Mrs. Leonard Slute of RR 1 Oshawa. The soloist, Miss Joyce Lane of Port Perry, sang "Love Is A Beautiful Song" and "'The Twelfth of Never', accompanied by Mrs. Cheryl MacMaster. The bride was given in marriage by both her parents. Her dress, made by her mother, was a simple floor-length gown of poly- ester crepe with a high- necked lace insert and matching lace trim accent- ing the empire waistline and cuffs. Guipure lace trimmed her full-length veil held by a bandeau of lace, pearls and crystalettes. She carried a cascade of baby pink roses and white carnations. The bride was attended by her close friends, Miss Bonnie MacLeod of Oshawa as Maid of Honour, Mrs. Mairs Joan Swain of Blackstock, Mrs. Denise Kent of Orono, and Miss Susan Slute of Oshawa, sister of the groom, as bridesmaids. Miss Lorrie Swain, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Swain of Black- stock was the flowergirl. They wore floor-length gowns of floral eyelet over pink and green lining with matching pink and green hats. They carried white wicker baskets of pink car- nations, white daisies and blue strawflowers. Mr. Don Swain of Black- stock acted as best man, and the ushers were Mr. Grant Slute of Oshawa, brother of the groom, Mr. Gord Bray of Oshawa, and Mr. Rob Mairs of Blackstock, brother of the bride. The groom looked very debonair in his all-white Newport suit, contrasted by the black and white suits of his male attendants. Following the ceremony, the wedding party and guests were invited to the new home of the bride's parents where pictures were taken around the picturesque pond and guests viewed the gifts. For the reception, held at the Nestleton Community Centre, the bride's mother received wearing a floral { 4 floor-length gown of cotton polyester. The groom's mother assisted wearing a long mint green gown with cape sleeves. Both mothers wore corsages of yellow roses. For her going-away outfit, the bride wore a navy and yellow flowered pantsuit with matching hat and a white gardenia corsage. The happy couple enjoyed a brief honeymoon in northern Ontario and are now residing in North Nestleton.
