This will be your only oppor- tunity for a turkey supper on the Island this year as the "Grace'* UCW decided against one. So reserve your tickets early from Mrs. Earl Reader or other members. Tonight at Prince Albert in the Church at 8 p.m. there will be a speaker Mrs. Red- man, who will speak on the Indian Girls' School. This should be interesting for anyone who is able to at- tend. On Sunday many children and their parents were back 'to Service at "Grace" Church. It was a good begin- ning for Sunday School. But please note there will be no service at the Island Church next Sunday so we will be free to attend .the Anniver- sary Service at Manchester with Rev. Parsons as the guest speaker. On Sunday Rev. Not only does the show provide a sales outlet for collectors, - says Mrs. Andor, but the show stim- ulates local interest and enthusiasm. "A lot of people who attended last year were just browsing--walking around and looking. That's what we want," she said, 'People to to become appre- ciative of antiques." Iris was in the show when it was held for the first time last year, and she has noth- ing but praise for it. 'The setting just couldn't be better. The Old Town Hall is just ideal for such a show," she said. More public awareness and, paradoxically, more competition, is what the dealer hopes will be the result of a top-notch local show. She doesn't consider com- petition from other dealers a detriment, rather, she sees a strong local antique business as an advantage. 'People hear about a place where there are good and plentiful dealers. It attracts buyers," said Iris. "It makes it better for everyone." That's particularly true in the tourist season, when her 'antique business reaches its annual peak, Actual sales at last year's \ 1976 DODGE CORONET . ; goor hardtop, V8 automatic, p.s., p.b., radio, brougham interior. 9000 miles. "But that's not the point. This (the show) is promotion for my business, and that's impor- tant." She said, however, that continuing quality Jike last | year's show would surely mean rapid growth of the event. 'I can see sales growing in several years as word gets around. The potential is there. It could easily become one of the better shows of its kind around." Mr. and Mrs. Andor have been interested in antiques for over five years. She worked for a clerk cashier for a Toronto antique auc- tioneer "'and picked up quite a bit." '""There's a lot to know in this field," she said. LOTS OF SMILE-AGE LEFT | The Andors moved to Port Perry three years ago, and Mrs. Andor opened the shop at her Water Street home. It started out as her hobby at first, something to do while her husband was away at work at the General Motors plant. "But it's a little past the hobby point now," said Iris. "It's a business now, but I still enjoy it as much as ever." She said the business grows every year, a process. that could well be boosted by a successful local show.
