Miss Kristal Davis of Oshawa holidayed with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Puckrin for a few days last week. Scott and Annette Foster were weekend guests of their cousins Lee and Blair Beacock. Allison Boyle celebrated her first birthday Saturday and attending her party was her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Ferguson of Toronto. The baseball schedule finished Sunday evening when Pleasant Point boys defeated our Seagrave team 17-11, It was good game anyway fellas! Mariposa trounced Oakwood to a tune of 24-9. Congratulations! Next Sunday, Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. a fast ball game has been arranged between Mariposa and Seagrave. Come out and cheer your team in the last game of the season. We extend our sympathy to Mrs. Betty Sommerville and her family in the pass- ing of her grandmother, Mrs. Ada Munro. The lovely flowers in our church Sunday morning were from the funeral of Mrs. Munro. Old age security pension payments rise in Oct. Increases in the Old Age Security pension, Guaran- teed Income Supplement and Spouse's Allowance, effec- tive in October 1976, were announced September 9 by Health and Welfare Minister Marc Lalonde. Increases in Old Age Security pension and Guar- anteed Income Supplement payments represent the twelfth quarterly escalation based on the cost of living, as provided for in the Old Age Security Act. The new monthly total at the single rate for persons receiving both the basic Old Age Security pension and maximum Guaranteed In- come Supplement will be $237.15. For a married couple, both pensioners, the combination of the basic pension and This is what Ontario's new regulations are proving. The maximum Guaran- teed Income Supplement for a single person, or a married person whose spouse is not a pensioner and is not receiv- ing a Spouse's Allowance, will go up in October to $97.76 from its current $96.13. The maximum supplement for a married couple, both pen- sioners, will increase to $86.81 each from 85.36. Add- ed to the basic pension, 'this will give each married pen- sioner $226.20 monthly, or a total of $452.40 for the couple. The Spouse's Allowance is paid -to 'persons betwéen 60 and 65 years of age who are married to Old Age Security pensioners and meet resi- dence requirements. Enti- tlement to a Spouse's Allow- ance, and amount paid, is based on yearly income. The maximum Spouse's Allowance will increase to $226.20 from $222.42.
