Robb. The Moto, 'Kindness is a golden chain by which society is bound together' will be replied to by Mrs. T. Carter. The Roll Call "Name one thing that a responsible citi- zen could do in the commun- ity". The topic is Citizenship and the hostesses will be Mrs. H. Boadway and Mrs. J. Bigglestone. Butch Bailey is in Halifax for a couple of weeks. The UCW sponsored a Pot Luck supper. which was a very enjoyable affair. Everyone was fascinated by the mouthorgan numbers by Rev. Sellars of Sandford. I think the tiny mouthorgan was in his hand when he was a baby. The Newfoundland- er. songs. with. the Irish Newfie accent were much enjoyed. Then all settled down to a look at the many lovely slides and to hear the running interesting com- mentary about the life culture, of the people living on the Labrador coast. An evening to be remembered. We are looking forward to visiting on Oct. 31st with our former Pastor the Rev. Ralph King and to hear the message he brings us. Ralph and Corrine came here as newlyweds, 30 years ago. Thanks to everyone who helped to make "apple day" a succes for our cubs and scouts. Several young folks from this area were with the Baptist Young People on a tour over the weekend. They presented their Cantata at Leamington, Cambridge and... Toronto. Pat and Ivan Clarke were supper guests with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Don - Asling. After 'supper they visited with Grandma Asling at Fairview Lodge, Whitby. The Pine Grove Church was well attended. All enjoy- ed the message by Rev. B. Matthews, a Professor at Toronto University and the music by Epsom Centennial Choir. Mrs. Jack Hill played the old organ. Mr. Walter Taylor played the electric organ. Mr. and Mrs. John Goslin and Bradley of Port Perry were Sunday guests with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Goslin, Seek president for MMB By Rod Stork For the past 10 years, Region 5 of the Milk Market- ing Board, including pro- ducers in Ontario, Victoria, Peterborough, Northumber- land and Durham Counties and the District of Muskoka- Haliburton have been repre- sented by George McLaugh- lin, who has also been chair- man of the Ontario Milk Marketing Board for that period of time. Mr. Mec- Laughlin is retiring at the end of this year and an election will be held to elect a new producer representative for Region 5. The voting day for all licensed milk shippers in the above-mentioned counties and districts is Tuesday, October 26th. Three candi- dates are running for elect- ion and they are: Harvey Graham from Durham; Les Smith from Ontario and Howard = Sheppard from Northumberland. All three of these. individuals announ- ced their intention to run sometime ago and have been campaigning in all areas since that time. At their recent monthly meeting, the Durham Milk Committee decided to fully endorse Harvey Graham, while at the same time, agreeing to contact all pro- ducers in Durham about get- ting out to vote for the candidate of their choice. ~ The Polling Station for all producers in the old Durham County, except Cavan Town- ship will be at the Orono Town Hall. Cavan producers will vote at the. Agricultural Office, 55 George Street North in Peterborough. Polls will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and any member of a family, holding a license with the Ontario Milk Marketing Board and who is 18 years of age or over may vote. Only one vote per licensed number is allowed. Make sure you have your Ontario Milk Marketing Board License Number with you when you go to the polls. If you want more inform- ation on the vote on October 26th, or would like to have a ride to the poll, contact Durham Milk Committee- man, John Wolters, 986-4303. It is your duty and privil- ege as a milk shipper to exercise your franchise and vote for the candidate of your choice on October 26th. Only minor damage was reported in a second accid- ent on October 8th when cars driven by David Wylie and Stephen Orlob, both of Port Perry, crashed at the Port Perry High School parking lot entrance to MacDonald Street. According . to police, the Wylie car was westbound on MacDonald Street when it came into collision with the Orlob car, which was enter- ing MacDonald from the parking lot.
