He found it had been named after his great: uncle, George Tait Blackstock who had been a Federal Conser- vative Candidate for Dur- ham West riding around 1885-86, as well as a brilliant criminal lawyer. George Tait Blackstock defended some of the most notorious criminals in his time and, although he often lost, he would put up such a bril- liant defence he got much publicity. George Tait Blackstock's wife had mar- ried a second time to a man named Grant and the Black- stock children's names were changed to Grant and that is why there were no de- scendants of George Tait Blackstock named Black- stock. There was a leroy Grant who died last spring who was George Tait Black- stock's son and his daughter (a granddaughter of George Tait) works at W.H. Smith's bookstore in Toronto. Mr. Blackstock said his grand- father's name was Tom and he looked after two old aunts who referred to him as "poor Tom" but to his brother, George Tait, the brilliant lawyer as 'Dear George". Heron The Noveinber meeting of the Ashburn group of the W.M.S. was held at the home of Mrs. R. Batten on Wed. evening the 3rd. Mrs. F. Daw, president, conducted the meeting and took her devotional part from the study book "Jus- tice not Charity'. Mrs. W. Gardner led in prayer. Mrs. A. Fisher was in charge of the study for the evening which was the first chapter in our new study book, "Encounter with Christ". Mrs. D. Ashton closed the meeting with prayer and a social time was spent over the tea cups. The next meeting will be at the home of Miss Chrissie Simpson, the first Wed. of December. It was remembrance day service at Burns Church on Sunday morning and Mr. Struther MacFarlane of Mississauga assisted in the service with the bagpipes. Mrs. Alma English of Woodville visited on Sunday with Mrs. W. Routley, Miss Vera Teach and Miss Eileen Hamill. Mr. and Mrs. J. Jones of Glen Major visited with Misses Hilda and Mary Hopkins and Mr. Walter Hopkins on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. E.
