In the January 31 game in Lindsay, there was no scor- ing in the first two period in a wide-open hockey game. Excellent goaltending from Flamingos Charlie Durward and the Muskies Ron Chipaya (recruited from the Midgets) delayed the goals until the final period when Lindsay put in three. Phil Hennessey spoiled the shutout with 4:02 remaining. It looked more like a scrimmage between old friends on Wed. night in Uxbridge with the red team completely dominating the yellow 13-1. There were chuckles and chides during the face-offs, pats on the shoulders from both sides and embraces after the game. The Gord and John Scott, Doug Christie line collected sixteen points. John had three goals and three assists, Gord had two goals and three assists and Doug Christie earned five assists. The tables were turned the following night in Port Hope as the first place Pan- thers bombed the Flaming- 0s 12-1. Rob Evans spoiled the shut-out for Port Hope. The final home game for the Flamingos in the regu- lar season was played Sun- day, Feb. 6 against Lindsay Trent Muskies. The Flamingos were the spoilers since it meant no change in their fifth place standings. Lindsay on the other hand, needed the win to pull ahead of Stouffville to be in third place and meet sixth place Cobourg in play-offs. " The Muskies out shot Port |* Perry 11-3.in the opening period and Durward came up with some great stops. It was Tom Wright from Coombs and Doyle that finally beat Durward with 3:56 remaining in the period. re After being shut-out in the first period, the Flamingos really came to life and completely dominated the rest of the game. They scored five times in the second period (outshooting Lindsay 17-4) and three times in the last period. Rob Evans and Dave Webster were leaders with four points each. The spiel saw six local teams compete for the honours against teams from Uxbridge, Annandale, Whitby and other out-of-towners. In all, 16 teams curled during the day. This years winner- was a local and two assists. The Flamingos played well to a man and earned the 8-1 win.
