MILTON FISHER - Res. 986-4743 Member of the Oshawa and District Real Estate Board PORT PERRY STAR -- Wednesday, Feb. 9, 1977 -- 29 Uxbridge edges Pacers in two play-off games by Andrea Jones Grant Menzies Pacers are déwn two games in their play-off series with Ux- bridge. It was a 54 loss Monday, January 81 and a 6-5 loss in Uxbridge on Fri- day. Both games were top- notch contests. Tim. Kane deflected the puck into the Uxbridge net to open the scoring for Port Perry. Greiner and Healey picked up the assists. Uxbridge tied it up but Rob Greiner put the Pacers ahead again as Kane fed a super pass right onto his waiting stick. They did it again in the second period and Burnett was there to tuck away the goal but again Uxbridge came back -scoring while Gibson was without his stick. Raymond had made two dandy stops on the two pre- vious shots also without the stick. ~ Greiner stepped onto the ice just in time to pick up a < . lead pass from Perigoe and scored all alone. prs Goalie: Raymond Gibson also picked up an assist on the play. With tke score 4-2 it was Uxbridge finishing with a flurry scoring three un- Broomball Cawker's 0 - Utica 0 Although there, was no scoring in this game, that doesn't mean it wasn't' exciting. As end to end action went throughout most of the game but Wayne Dowson of Cawkers and Dennis Symes of Utica held everything out. There was only one penalty in the entire game as Bruce Smith' of Utica drew a high stick- ing penalty. Two or three times both teams thought they had scored but neither team had. As the standings are currently these two clubs will meet in the play- offs, which promises to be exciting. Brian's 2 - Smit's 1 Smit's grabbed the early first period lead. In Uxbridge the Pacers fell far behind (6-2) in the first half of the game as Schewaga was bombarded with shots from every direction. Baird had the first goal of the game from Perigoe and Lee but the Pacers didn't score again until late in the second period when Greiner put one Healey. The goal seemed to give them some spark and although Uxbridge scored again the Pacers kept skat- ing and checking and Jay Adam picked up his own rebound to'make it 6-3. The third period was Port Perry's but they faced some excellent goaltending. Rob Greiner pulled the goalie to tuck in number 4 and Rob Kemp closed the gap to only one with 3:43 remaining. : The Pacer's finally put in the tieing goal just the buzzer went to end the game. Another heart- breaking loss by one goal. Pacers played the third game on Monday (too late for publication) and meet in Uxbridge on Friday at 8 p.m. for game four. J a activities McClure scored the goal with assists going to Barry cClure and Neil Guthrie. They held this lead for almost two whole periods 'but late in the second Bill Peters tied it up for Brian's with Dave Dalton and Dean Beare. Brian's connected once more in the third period as Ken Fraser scor- ed from Bill Peters and Paul Christie. This finaliz- ed the scoring and Brian's gained another two points lead on Coulters for the final play-off position. Brooklin 5 - Coulters 3 Brooklin jumped into a two goal lead as Ken Down scored from Murray Down and Ken Vipond and then Ian Down scored from Murray Down. Coulters then .made it 2-1 as Rick Collins scored from Doug Mappin and Brian Parrish. Brooklin again increased their lead to two with Murray Down scoring from Ian Down and Larry Down. Coulter's then scored twice 'in a row tying it up with Steve Zaporosan scoring from Scott Howsam a Rick VanWeston and Ric Collins from Bob Stevens and Brian Parrish. Ian Down put Brooklin back out in front from Murray Down. Ken Vipond then put it out of reach from Wayne Church as Brooklin won 5-3. rf A RN A he in from Mike CONTINUOUS FORMS available at the Port Perry Star 985-7383 OA aN gare os A als. » Ye Oe Pant uivh a A a aM tr SN EA -I%
