April 5, 6, and 7 will see many of our young people involved in the Science Fair at the Cornish School. Epsom School did well at the Music Festival. The Grades 1 and 2 choir won first prize, then participated in the Festival of Stars. Congratulations also to former Epsom pupils who also took part in the Music Festival at Sunderland. Miss Darlene Lyons is home from Peterborough for two weeks. Miss Tina Ruhl of Water- loo and Miss Peggy Ruhl of Newmarket were home a week ago for a couple of days. Michelle Watson is spend- ing the spring break with -her grandparents. Miss Cathy Goslin of Toronto was home for the weekend. On Global TV on Friday was a program of interest to Epsom folks when the class of Bill Stearns at Ingersoll was interviewed on TV. This is a class of children with learning prob- lems. Before Christmas Bill noticed his pupils were very restless 'so he started to teach them to make toys which were sold and the money donated to the Sal- vation Army. Since Christ- mas they have been making toy trucks. He borrowed money from the bank for the project. Now they must work to pay their debt so they learn banking. They can only work at this pro- ject when school work is satisfactorily completed. This has been a marvellous incentive for the class. - Congratulations and best wishes to Bill and his class. Our last dance featured "Stampeders" and was a great success as well as being profitable. The week of March 14 to the 18th was Music Week". We began the week with noon hour con- certs in the library, and continued with events such as Green day, Sketch day and one of our best assemb- lies ever. Friday was 'Sketch your Teacher' day, with excellent drawings being handed in from some of Port High's Amateur artists. Drama Night was another big success this year with a good turnout. What could have been better!! Plans are in full force now for the "At Home" schedul- "Arts and. ed for April 15th. The theme this year is '"The Circus" and the great amount of work that is being put into designing props and decor- ations should make this our best Spring Prom ever. The well-known band "Par Four" will be appearing, so don't miss it! Our ski season looks like it has come to an end, but we all enjoyed our weekly trips to Bethany and hope for lots of snow next year.
