Port High does well in contest On March 1, 1977, 21,500 students . from 1,065 high schools across Canada com- peted in the 15th annual Junior Mathematics Contest sponsored by the University of Waterloo. Port Perry High School had 60 students from years one, two and three enter the contest. Port Perry High School came first in Dur- ham Region and third in Zone 68 which is made up of Haliburton, Northumber- land, Peterborough and Vic- toria Counties, as well as Durham Region. ~~ Our school was ranked 76th out of 524 schools in Ontario and 134th out of 1,058 schools in all 'of Canada, ) Our top five students Greg Carriere, John Espley, Paul Delhaise, Wendy Bracken and Debbie Ireland _had scores high enough to place them on the Zone 68 Honour Roll. This is a list of the top five percent of the students in the zone. Each of these students will receive a certificate from the University of Waterloo for this outstanding achieve- ment. In addition Port Perry's top student, Greg Carriere, is listed on the Ontario Honour Roll and the Can- adian Honour Roll. Greg's score of 92.25 placed him in the top first 40 students in * . Ontario. He also placed in the top 105 students out of 21,500 students in Canada.
