Over 200 people gather at Port Perry Legion hall on Saturday night to honour the Old Bill's of World War |. dinner and dance. The evening included free refreshments, Above, Old Bills from Scugog Legion honours Old Bill Alf Sutton, and nine other comrades from Sunnybrook Hospital, Tor- onto, were the guests of Legion Branch 419, Satur- day night for the annual Old Bill's Night. Alf, an 86- year-old veteran of World War I, thrilled the over 200 in attendance, when it was announced that he was about to be married again. The annual banquet, to STAR reprints call 985-7383 honour the veterans: of WW I, has until this year been aimed mainly at the members of Port Perry and Uxbridge branches of the Legion. This year, through the efforts of Clare Nightin- gale, arrangements were made so that 10 veterans could attend the function, from Sunnybrook. Pat and Judy-Kay Darby volunteered their services to bring the vets to Port Perry, in the Red Cross Experimental Bus, which has just been put into ser- vice. This bus carries about 10 people, with facilities for Hele. Grant. lovering people confined to wheel chairs. As the banquet began, Bill Hopkins piped the head table into the hall, and when in place, Gord Coplin filled the hall with the sound of his trumpet, 'as those who had fallen in the war were remembered. A standing ovation was given as MC John Maw introduced the guests and local Old Bill's in atten- dance, as well as branch member Harry Snowden, who stays at Sunnybrook. Head table guests were Padre Woolcock, Oshawa; Legion Ladies Auxiliary president presented a cheque for $1000 to Branch 419 president Jack Lee at the Old Bill's banquei. The money is to be used for an undisclosed project, which the Legion is planning on. In front, John L.
