Scugog Island area news Recently, Lenn Hance had the misfortune of injuring his leg quite badly. We do hope he has a minimum of suffering and ill effects. We previously neglected to mention that Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Carter had a very interesting weekend when-they visited with their daughter Ann and her hus- band in Welland and visited a Hungarian restaurant in Niagara where they knew the musicians in atten- dance. Mr. and Mrs. Morven Hughes also managed to have a good weekend recently in Kingston. We owe appreciation to George Freeman Jr. who took a well filled bus of passengers to the Eaton Centre on Tues. Some met relatives or friends for lunch, while others went sight-seeing or shopping. Of course it was also a great opportunity to visit with Island friends. Saturday, was a very busy day around the centre of the Island. After a very satisfying hot luncheon at the church, people gathered at the Community Hall where they found a display of many pictures involving a great variety of skills chiéfly by local people. - The display of ceramics by Norma Towers and her adult pupils was outstand- ing. It was pleasing to have several men enter their hobbies too. We were glad to see the work of several children and could wish for more. It seems as if the interest in afghans and quilts is extensive and the designs were numerous. Many ladies proved their handicraft in a bake table which was soon cleaned up.
