Youngsters had to not only pass through a thorough examination of bicycle and accessories, but also pass a number of tests to measure performance and safety. Cubs, Scouts hold bike rodeo 'With the co-operation of the O.P.P. and Greenbank Scouts, the 1977 bike rodeo held at the old Port Perry CONTINUOUS FORMS available .at the Port Perry Star 985-7383 arena was a great event. About 60 cubs went over their bike with the O.P.P. - Bikes were checked for handlebars - grips, bell or horn, brakes, reflector, reflective tape, fenders, tires, wheels, seat, chain, pedals, lights, hand signals. It was Cartwright High School's annual 'At Home!' formal and was quite succesful at that. A lot of work had been put into the decorations and the results were spectacular. Greenbank U-CW 'The Evening Unit of Greenbank U.C.W. met on Wednesday, May 4th at the home of Marie Cookman. The Devotional was taken by Norrine Cook, Marie Cookman and Barbara Phair. The theme was memories of the past. Jean Kerry read an interesting article about Greenbank's first High School bus which was a former hearse. Bar- ducted by Helen McKean in the absence of the President and Vice President. The second princess being Wendy Till- ing and runner up to the Queen was Anita DeJong. And now what you have all been waiting for,/ Cart- wright High School's School Queen for 1977 is Deb Mc- Laughlin. Last Saturday evening was definitely exciting and enjoyed by all who attended. For the Outer's Club members, May 24th week- end means only one things - the annual trip to Terrance Bay!! To ease the burden on the pocketbooks paying for food and gas, the club decided to raise some quick money. Their schemes included selling hotdogs, washing windows, spading gardens and also they put in 66'2 man-hours picking stones for local farmers. Profits reached closed to $200. Not bad for quick money (for 8 people) and it only took a week!!! Also into the future, fiay 17 the years 4 and 5 stu- dents will be attending the Shakespearean play 'All's Well, That Ends Well" at the Stratford Theatre. Meanwhile years 1, 2 and 3 plan to take a short excur- sion to Toronto to see a few of the sites - Casa Loma and a boat tour of Toronto Har- bour. At the beginning of May, five top table tennis players represented C.H.S. in a regional Ping Pong tourna- ment. The high for Cart- wright was Jason Warner, placing 3rd in the consol- ation.
