And how about Mom, I'l bet she's counting them too - but not quite so joyous ly! Yue tradionally has been the favourite month for weddings and this year is certainly no exception. Miss Jean Edwards of Englehart will become the lovely bride of Mr. Ron Nobbs on June 25th in St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Englehart. This happy couple will be honoured by our community at a shower on Tuesday, June 14 at 8:00 p.m. in the church base- ment. Everyone is welcome to attend and all ladies are requested to bring lunch I please. Saturday evening was a very special night for all of our young Beavers and their daddys' and of course the Beaver leaders. The 1st Seagrave Beaver colony had their annual Father and Son banquet and from all reports the Roast Beef dinner complete with home- made pie for dessert seein- ed to be quite, a hit with everyone. Following dinner special guests our new student minister, Mr. Rick Thorne, Mrs. Judy Latta of 1st Greenbank Cubs and Mr. Phil Bertrand of 1st Greenbank Scouts enter- tained the boys and as a grand finale to a great evening, Mr. Terry Lavereau showed the boys and their a very inte resting fim entitled Don Beacock on behalf of the fathers expressed his thanks and appreciation to all the leaders and assist- ants for the time, effort and concern that they give to our boys each week. It really is truly appreciated by the kids and their parents. Many thanks to the Seagrave U.C.W. for the scrumptous dinner they pre- pared and served so effic- iently. While there they visited with Mr. Walter King who is at pres- ent a patient in the Toronto. Well ladies, I hope every- one has gotten new laces for their Gulf travel shoes and are all ready and rarin' to in the U.C.W. walk-a- thon which is scheduled for Saturday, June 18. Now in case of rain perhaps you could trade your sneakers in for a couple of paddles but judging by the dry weather we've been having lately, it doesn't appear likely. And for all you fans out there with a sweet tooth there will be a bake sale that same day featuring some luscious looking pies, cakes and other assorted calorie-counting goodies. The bake sale will be held at the corner of the 11 concession and the Sea- -grave road. Now after you've walked the 5 miles, ate some bak- ing you can go home have a good rest and be a church for 10:00 a.m, Sunday morn- ing to attend the U.C.W. Elaine Willerton and Diane Puck- rin have been hard at work making plans for this and it certainly appears as if it might be very enjoy- able indeed! So please plan to attend. Due to the fact that many Sunday School teachers will be taking part in this service the S.S. pupils are invited to attend the church service in lieu of their regular S.S. class. President Mrs. Harold Lewis presided and assisted by the Secretary Mrs. James Coates. Registration commenced at 9:15 a.m. Following the Opening Ode and Mary Stewart Col- lect, Mrs. Ruby Sonley of Brooklin welcomed all pre- sent and offered an impres- sive prayer for a successful day. Minutes of the past annual meeting were read antl approved. Ratification of Directors were approved by Mrs. O. Jordon, Provincial Board Director. : Standing committees all gave full reports as follows: Agriculture and Canadian Industries - Mrs. E. Britton; Citizenship and World Af- fairs - Mrs. R. President Mrs. Harold Beavers, exchange honours About 60 Beavers partici- pated in the first annual Pine Ridge District Bea- veree at Poplar Park in Port Perry. on May 28 They represented Seagrave, Cannington and Manchester A.D.C. Larry Kendall opened the ceremonies and welcomed the Beavers and leaders, and the many parents who attended. Scugog Mayor Lawrence Malcolm was made an Honourary Beaver in recognition of the many services he has given to the Scouting Family. The Mayor in return presented each with a Beaver Crest. Saturday visitors at the Wray household were Mrs. E. Missons of Halifax and Mr. and Mrs. Hobf and Mrs. Shears from Willowdale. June 9 is election day. Lewis reported a splendid and memorable year and thanked all the convenors and those who have made her term as President so interesting and profitable. Mrs. H. A program of musical selections and asSembly singing was much enjoyed. A very impressive memorial service was pre- pared and presented by members of Brooklin Women's Institute, honour- ing and remembering the deceased members. Unit 2 will meet at the home of Donna Wana- maker on Monday, June 27° at 8:00 p.m. and lastly there will be a Strawberry Supper on July 9. More details on that later.
