Bunny Rowland represented Theta Delta, Port Perry chaptér of Beta Sigma Phi, at the provincial convention in Ottawa. Accompanying her were Shirley Baster and Marion Barnett from Theta: Psi chapter, Uxbridge. The convention held in the beautiful Skyline Hotel brought together approxi- mately 1,000 girls represent- ing chapters from British Columbia to Newfoundland and from California to Florida. Our sorority sisters from Ottawa are to be commend- ed for the splendid organiz- ation of such a large con- vention. The theme "1,001 Nights" was carried out in dress, food, decorations and entertainment. Distinguish- ed quests for the weekend were Beta Sigma Phi presi- dent, Walter W. (Bill) Ross 111 and his son, Walter W. (Bucky) Ross 1V from Kansas City, Missouri. On Saturday evening the girls were entertained by a marvellous Jazzy band, "The National Press and Allied Workers Jazz Band Inc" with well known press- man, Charles Lynch as master of ceremonies also featuring guest entertainer, Ben Wicks, Many girls took advant- age of the bus and boat tours around the capital. It was a weekend of renewing from past conventions as well as making new ones. . All in all it was a weekend to be remembered 'and talk- ed about for many" months. OBITUARY -- Elmer Albert Cook Funeral services were held from Carson Funeral Home, Brooklin, Monday, July 11, 1977, for Elmer Albert Cooke, who died at the Dr. J.0. Ruddy Hospital Whitby, Friday, July 8; following a short illness. He lived at Myrtle Station. Born May 7, 1895 at Pros- pect, Ont., he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Cook. 5 He was the oldest service station attendant in Ontario. He started with British American Oil in 1920, which later. became Gulf Oil. He was a veteran of the First World War (Old Bill), and was a member of the Port Perry Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 419. He is survived by his wife, the former Jessie Magee, a son, Kenneth Cooke of Brooklin, Ont., a daughter, Mrs. Audrey James of Myrtle Station; two brothers, Ray of Port Perry; Earl of Oshawa; three sisters, Mrs. Fred Beadle (Blanche) of Oshawa; Mrs. Edgar Cooper (Ruby) of Toronto; Mrs. Jim Lee (Vera) of Greenbank; two grandchild- ren, Mrs. Al Ness (Sandra) and Donna Cook and two great-grandchild- ren. One sister, Maude, two brothers, Clarence and Keith, predeased him. Interment was held at the Oshawa Union Cemetery. Rev. The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Geer, Port Perry. The bridegroom is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs.. Gordon Goode Sr., Port Perry. : . The bride given in marri- age by her parents wore a long white gown of nylon sheer over net fashioned with a V-neckline trimmed with lace and daisy appliques. The full skirt was also trimmed with daisies and lace circled the chapel train. A matching picture hat with satin streamer completed the out- fit. She carried a nosegay of spring flowers. Mrs. Joan Beare, Port Perry was Matron of honour.
