They also visited her brother Joe and his wife who are in the hospital due to a serious accident a week ago. We were pleased to learn that on Saturday Joe was taken off the critical list. v We were pleased to learn Mrs. Jones has heard from her family - the Basters would like us to know they are enjoying their new home in Holland and al- ready they have paid a visit to England. May we also welcome Mr. and Mrs. Murray Potts who are living in the. Baster home during their absence. Mrs. Gladys Evans is visiting ~ her daughter Doreen, Mrs. Tom Pickett, at Deep River. Saturday morning, Mrs. R. Evans visited her mother at Port Perry Villa. Mrs. Acton is enjoying her new home. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Van- Veghel enjoyed Beaverton Pioneer Days on Saturday. They ate the proof If the old saying *'you are what you eat" is true, Jerry and Regis Hanley are quite probably prize-winning bass. The two brothers, who own a cottage at Ball Point, on Lake Scugog were out fishing on Saturday evening when they hooked into a smallmouth bass. But, that was the only thing small about the fish. - After a lengthy struggle to land the bass, it was .Bi hauled into the boat and measured at 24" in length. According to some locals, this was probably the larg- est bass out of Scugog in a long time, but Jerry and Regis have no longer got the proof. . They ate it! That's right....they ate that beautiful, big bass... If you don't believe this story, just ask them. They- will tell you it's true. Miss Christie was presented with several gifts including a framed humorous drawing by Claremont artist John Richmond. A large cake from Hank's Pastries was designed with a drawing of the Old Town Hall. the committee to save the landmark building. She has purchased an old hall in Port Hope and will renovate it for living area and studio where she will continue to pursue her many artistic and creative activities.
