In conjunction with the actual visit by the surveyor, the hospital also completed a thirty page questionnaire on hospital activities and statistics. The report, although confi- dential in detail, had very few recommendations to make for improvement. Dr. Blackwell noted in summarizing his report that the hospital has made very good progress since the time of the first survey and many of his remarks were commendations on the very excellent progress made by e MACRAME eo CLOTH TOYS & MORE ... 4 HE 2 the hospital over the past two years. We are extrem- 'ely pleased with this report and feel that it is evidence that the hospital board, medical staff and staff of the hospital are keenly in- terested in maintaining the improving the standard of care provided by the hos- pital. : : Maintaining this high accreditation standard is something that we must all work very diligently at and the staff in this regard must be commended, said Mr. Brown. ; Accreditation is a volun- tary program organized through the Canadian Coun- cil on hospital accreditation represented by the following organizations: Canadian Hospital Association, the Canadian Medical Associa- tion, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, L'Association Des Medecins De Langue Fran- caise du Canada and the Canadian Nurses Associa- tion. The above member organizations form the board of directors for the council. "Accreditation is a special instrument used by health professionals who are in- volved with and concerned about the provision of hos- pital care in Canada. Basi- cally, it is a method by which we consciously and consistently seek to better the hospital service to the community. It has been an important force in raising the quality 'of health care in North America and is an unending task since each day introduces more oppor- tunity for further improve- ment in the quality of health care. This strong personal commitment for institution- al improvement holds the promise of better care that cannot be legislated. It is a total task involving all com- ponents of the: health care team in the institution and requires total direction and dedication especially at the local level. ¢ Of the 243 hospitals in Ontario, over 80 percent of them are now accredited. i= UXBRIDGE ELECTRONICS 75 Brock Street W. A large atten- dance of members were richly rewarded by her most delightful and interest- ing topic 'dried flowers". With a large array of flowers, weeds and herbs, Mrs. Peebles gave demon- strations of the various techniques in the art of dry- ing flowers. Lovely ar- rangements were on view with some helpful hints on how to create flower designs. Members flooded Mrs. Peebles with questions throughout the demonstra- tions. Leaving us with a great deal of enthusiasm, it will be a common sight to the Scugog area to see Pine- ridge club members scann- - ing the fields and meadows for weeds and flowers of J ----_-- << O Cc "x3 FROM THE PETER BARKER Denture Therapist 111 Dundas Street West WHITBY - 668-1464 every description and size, Flowers "and "trees in gardens also take on a new perspective of 'availability to this fantastic hobby.
